OK, don't yell at me...I want Purdue to win as mush as anyone else. But, since Iowa and MSU have already won, the best we can do is a #4 seed (if OSU loses at home to Wisconsin tomorow). A win coupled with an OSU win gives us a #5 seed.
As a #4 seed, we'd most likely play Iowa on Friday and Wisconsin on Saturday. The same would be true if we had a #5 seed, except that we'd need to win on Thursday (of course).
But, a loss to Illinois would give us a #6 seed, where we'd play MSU on Friday and Maryland on Saturday (again, assuming we win on Thursday).
Obviously, the #4 seed means having to play one less game, but if we're destined to play on Thursday as either a #5 or a #6, I'd almost rather have the #6 seed to (a) get a rematch with MSU and (b) avoid Wisconsin for as long as possible.
I know that a loss today would hurt our NCAA chances, but it might give rise to a bigger run in the B1G tournament.
Or, maybe I'm already looking for a silver lining in case we lose.
BTFU!
