they beat 4 straight ranked teams at home and the fact that we never play well their, I'll call it a good win.

Chambers is a good coach, better than many at PSU think. He worked several aspects of our team probing for weakness. He took away several of our strengths, like dominance in the paint. He pressed us, and made us use our short bench to the max. Nice game plan.
Like I said in the pregame thread, this one worried me much more than Michigan State. Penn State is not nearly as bad as people on this board think. They've got good athleticism that caused our offense problems both on the inside and on the perimeter. So relieved we pulled that off.
Well maybe. You need some 7' centers and a kid named Carr to pull off his game plan.
#11 Stevens is an a-hole. He acted all tough and cocked off to Biggie everytime he scored. Biggie got the last laugh. Stevens took some ill-advised shots late in the game that really helped Purdue.
Anyone else think Stevens looks like Vince?
They're going to be a rising program if Carr, Stevens, and Watkins stay all four years. If they get that kind of home-cookin' on a regular basis, they'll be even tougher. The officials seemed to be going by the "no blood, no foul" rule of thumb tonight.

PSU had a full week to prepare while we had to battle with MSU on Saturday. We came out sluggish and survived. Cline's biggest late game shots since he did it at Pitt last year.
"IF" you are allowed to really be physical on the boards and physical defending the purdue bigs...that will cause Purdue problems since that is a lot of Purdue's offense.How to ALMOST beat us

Yeah, I was having flashbacks of the Minnesota game in the first few seconds of OT. Thank goodness things turned out differently.

I didn't. The MO was with PSU and the refs don't know how to throw the ball up anymore, but still thought Purdue would win...but not enough to bet. I thought Purdue had less to focus on than PSU and kept thinking any minute the one one one play would dry up for PSU
Not sure, Maryland and Minnesota are 2. Not sure the other 2. The announcers mentioned it a couple of times.
That made me feel a bit sick. How often does a ball only catch net after bouncing off the rim 3 feet?
DM, PJ and RC all came up big the second half, but VE was player of the game IMO.
Not in the first half, especially the first 10 minutes. He did make some key 3-pt'ers.

I did....PSU was drained and they didn't have anybody on the bench to spell their studs.
As mentioned, they have beaten Minnesota and Maryland this season and they beat Indiana and Iowa at home late last season:

Wisconsin has had 3 OT wins in BIG road games, with Rutgers being an extremely lucky one. About time we got one.
I've felt all year that the best way to beat us is drive to the basket and double up on Biggie. Penn State did both. It was sickening watching Carr tear us up, but at least Biggie had some good passes out of the double team tonight to an open guard. Hopefully that is a good sign.

I kinda expected this. PSU can literally sneak up on anyone, and we were on a 5-game winning streak, including two ranked teams, Indiana, and MSU. After so much success, a team is bound to get a mental relapse. That is why we lost to Nebraska before. A long success, a sneaky team, a road game... this had every mark for a trap game.
I am glad that we pulled out a win nonetheless. It won't hurt our seed, and our guys were properly scared off. They will be more focused in the next game. We need to ride this out as long as we can, hopefully into a deep tourney run.

And Purdue to play theirworst game of the year. State played really well but we certainly helped them out.
with all over-the-backs and hackings not called against Penn State, it is a very good win. If game is called this way, I doubt that Purdue would have gotten this much success in rebounding.
