Come tomorrow

If we don't have a top coach by tomorrow, it will be time to for MB2 to step down as well as Mitch. Then the new gov better appoint a new BOT. The whole system needs to get a reset, because 7 weeks is enough time to find a candidate. I guess we could just get rid of Varsity sports. Mitch can say it was his idea, and call ourselves U of Chicago at West Lafayette.
I saw IU is tired of how Purdue is running their portion of IPFW. I am tired of how they are running the athletic program.
Pretty soon, the bigger schools of B1G will get tired of carrying the crap of the B1G. They will split with B1G combine with TEX, OK and form a new conference while BOT, Mitch and MB1/2 keep thinking we can wait a few more years to invest.

Well said!! Have another shot of Wild Turkey. ;)

As Jimmy buffet once said "Come Monday it will be all right". I am not really an idiot just think some one ought to be able to take the ball and get this over the end line. I was led to believe that tomorrow they were going to announce. If I took their (and I guess your approach) I would be fired (and rightfully so) for not reaching the goals required. There are no more excuses of "We are waiting for season to end", or "Our guy is in the championship game".
I am sure there are plenty of coaches that think this job is toxic. Therefore they just need to find the resources to guarantee that it is fixed and soon.

So you want them to make any hire to satisfy the deadline

I love Purdue as much as anybody, but this whole process has shown me how we are viewed from the outside: Purdue Football is viewed as a dumpster fire.
I was super pumped thinking about a new coach, but it seems that not many people want the job - other than Spack. Maybe we roll the dice and give it to Woodson? ? At least he wants the job.

You needed this to realize how bad it has gotten?

It's been a disaster for 4 years

I knew that the team performed horribly and the coaching was horrendous, but I still thought Purdue (and the B1G) would be a desired place to coach. We now have several mid majors snubbing us. I guess I still remember the Bree's years and how fun Purdue Football can be. I didn't realize we would have so much disinterest if we were willing to pay-up this time.

2nd or 3rd worst job in the p5 right now

Hasn't it always in the modern era? I always saw Joe Tiller as having built a program in spite of all the disadvantages inherent to Purdue as opposed to the expected norm - he had to bring the spread offense to the big ten to get that success. For some reason people think investing a ton of money will automatically entitles us to a good coach and program.

Look, Purdue is a better job than Wake, Duke, BC, Cuse, Indiana, Illinois, Northwestern, Kansas, K State, Iowa State, Washington State, Oregon State, Arizona, Baylor, Vanderbilt, Pitt, Mississippi State or Mizzou.

Get your head screwed on straight and stop whining.
It isn't right now. Kansas and Rutgers are worse. Maybe

Missouri? Pitt? Gtfo

I would be thrilled to have Pitts coach.

Rutgers....you forgot Rutgers. Our new slogan...."At least we're not Rutgers"

That's ALL TIME, this is NOW....plus several of the teams you listed are ranked higher than Purdue so I'm not understanding how this is your rebuttal.

Boris, don't agree with your logic at all, plus the insults make you look childish. We are not hiring a coach for the 1960 Purdue team, we're hiring a coach for the 2017 football team. We need to live in the present, and the sad reality is that we are one of the worst P5 programs right now. MBob seems to be reaching out to all the right candidates and doing the right things, but if none of those guys want to come here, we may not get a guy like Fleck or Brohm - and that will be a reflection on Darrell Hazell, Danny Hope, and Morgan Burke, not Mike Bobinski.

It absolutely is. Purdue has every bit the potential to be a dynasty in the big ten or a highly competitive program without a doubt. All they have to do is do a stadium upgrade and put some energy into that stadium and it's game over. Program will takeoff like a rocket. Purdue could be a very attractive place with a cool looking stadium upgrade that makes the campus proud. That combined with a football complex and the proper coach. This program has all the other aspects to be a rising star. Getting the Lafayette community involved is a real strong way to get dividends. To me it's the stadium. That's what people see on TV anytime Purdue is seen on TV. That damn stadium, empty, that's the eyesoar every bit as bad as the team. And that stadium rests squarely on the head of these administrators. That's their responsibility to put a world class facility there if Purdue wants to call itself a world class univeristy in the 21st century. Because that's the first thing most kids are going to associate Purdue with growing up on TV. It's terrible currently. Some ragtag disaster with a uniquely horrible appeal. It's got to be addressed. Honestly on TV the way Purdue's stadium comes over it is the biggest eyesoar EVER. It needs serious attention. You never get a second chance to make a first impression.

The Big 12 Conference is on the verge of collapse. Four of their top schools recently bolted and they now have only two schools holding the other eight together: Texas and Oklahoma. During the B12's recent public fling with expansion, both Texas and Oklahoma said they would not sign an extension of the B12 GOR under any circumstances. This means that both schools plan to leave the B12 in 2022 and what remains will no longer be a P5 conference. Expansion plans promptly collapsed.

The eight remaining schools of the B12 - Iowa State, Oklahoma State, K State, TCU, etc, have no conference network and no one looking to sign any of them up into a power conference come 2022. All eight will then shrink into AAC stature.

I'm not worried about Purdue's long term stability. We now have a president, AD and BOT chair who are focused upon turning the football program around. If we were Iowa State, I'd be worried.

If we don't have a top coach by tomorrow, it will be time to for MB2 to step down as well as Mitch.
You self-entitled people need a real big dose of reality. I would love to see you held to the same stipulations posted on here. Something like: 'Oh you didn't decide on lunch yet? You need to step down.' -- Yeah you're being that ridiculous.

Not for nothing, I do spend my day making decisions quickly, with the safety of hundreds of lives. With that said, it is football, we are the fans it is there for entertainment, a game. Fans are entitled to an opinion. While some fans are being judgemental of a coaching hire, they can. After all it's their job to pick the right coach, and by extension make fans happy. You ask for patience, but you don't have enough to let someone have there own opinion?

Not even remotely the same situation.

Certainly people can have their own opinion. Just like I can call them out for being crybabies and self-entitled in their responses.

It's their job to to do this hire, so yes it is the same thing. Are you not complaining about others? As in turn we can call you out for your crybabying about others opinions. Venting is kind of the point of a message board.

I think the AD did his due diligence and was better than Morgan with how he has done this. You offer a fair price, some people just don't want to work here. You cast a wide net, but you are down to 3rd-5th pick. At least it was not a situation where you passed on one of these other guys to hire "Choice E." I do think everyone from the BoT, to President, to AD overestimated the appeal of the job.
