Didn't include this bit from Big Ten media day anywhere this week but thought it was interesting. Players had mentioned in the spring, even, to me that this team seemed more player-led, in terms of accountability and handling things before they get to the "third floor," as in the coaches' offices in Mollenkopf. They think that's the mark of a good team. (To that point, DeAngelo Yancey said, "I know we’ve said it in past years, but this offseason, you can see the change in the players.")
Then, when I was listening back through the stuff I personally didn't hear from Hazell, I noticed this: "In the first three years, I’ve had to be the voice of the team all the time. That hasn’t happened in the last six months. Where they can now be the voice. That’s where you start to get good, when they know what’s wrong, what they need to do better. When the leadership comes from the locker room, then you’ve got a chance."
Thoughts?
