Just read the article about Brohm creating the culture at Purdue and I really like how transparent he is with the program. I think back to Hazel and he was always talking like everything was great when clearly it was not. Brohm tells it how it is, and to him, there are issues with current players mentality and desire. If you look at Purdue basketball there is a clear culture around the program and that is what football is missing. I really like Coach Brohm and I'm excited to see the culture he creates for Purdue football. Boiler Up!

Changing the culture is all about attitude and accountability. I feel like the media is the one place he can hold the players accountable until the games start up. He doesn't need to single guys out but if he's disappointed in what he's seeing from an effort and attitude standpoint I'm glad he's telling us fans that right now. No point in keeping it a secret since it's obvious that the program had issues. We may not have know the exact issues or their depth but we all knew there were some.

I am really liking Brohm's attitude. He very clearly is taken aback a little bit with our poor talent and ability to compete and execute. The upcoming year is going to be a really tough year, but I think he will make progress. I would be concerned if he had come in and given the Hazell approach of "We're close" and "I like what I see" when clearly we are in shambles. He is not going to put up with any bad effort. I think his description of Blough makes it sound like he thinks Blough is a great kid with great tools but poorly developed fundamentals and poor coaching. He might be able to make a much better QB out of Blough.

Brohm would make any QB better, our previous coaching staff made any QB worse.

First thing Tiller and Co. did was chase off some bad apples and slackards. Sounds like Brohm is doing the same thing.
First player Tiller kicked off the team was Okobi...arguably the best player in the entire program. From what I have heard, that snapped pretty much everyone off their high horse and got their attention.

It appears that Brohm is a head coach and is acting like one. Hazel was a wr coach and didn't know how to handle many of the requirements of being a head coach. To be successful, the players need to accept and buy into the system. What is sad is when you can find a player off the street who is better equipped to play over an existing 5th year senior!

Okeafor, not Okobi, right?

Tyler Stubblefield would approve. Oh , just got a flashback of his 99 yd TD pass at nd.

Can you remember how those dopey Notre Dame announcers wouldn't shut up about how Taylor was going to get flagged for pumping his fist?Like it made any difference in that 41 to 16 rout!

Yes

I still look for the ND coach losing his shit and pointing it out to the refs

No worries. Between Chucky, Chike, and Chukie, it was tough to keep them all straight!
Willie Tillman took me in to see Tiller 40 minutes or so before a game and then took me into the dressing room and Chike came out of his pregame shower with towel and looked like he was sculpted out of stone. Chike was a beast

Pretty much every QB got worse once they became the starter. Blough was the exception to that but maybe that's because Shoop was gone last year.
Shoop getting the boot is exactly why Blough has progressed. John Shoop may go down NCAA & NFL history as the all time worst offensive mind.

My hope is Brohm gets recruits on campus so they can actually view the commitment the university has made to football. I think Brohm has a great opportunity to bring in winners with his recruiting and the new facilities. Hopefully that translates to big time football back in West Lafayette.

I don't think shoop has a poor offensive mind...rather he gets too caught up in what should happen rather than what will happen. I think his system is heavily reliant on simply having better athletes and players at every position...in which case, it shouldn't really matter the system you are running.

I think Shoop is a terrible field coach and would be a great offensive quality control coach.

I can understand why you would say that as his plays weren't bad. But his play calling and in game awareness is by far the worst I have ever seen. Which is why I stand by my statement about His Shoopness

When I worked at Purdue I remember a contact I had with Okobi and that move on Tillers part really got his attention!!!
