As part of the ongoing fallout from Iowa firing head coach Fran McCaffery, the Hawkeyes have now lost the commitment from one of their highest-rated recruits in the modern era.

Consensus four-star small forward Joshua Lewis is reopening his recruitment following McCaffery's firing. Rivals ranked Lewis as the nation's No. 37 player overall, which would have made Lewis the highest-rated player in the modern era to sign with the Hawkeyes if he had inked with Iowa.

Instead, the 6-foot-7, 185 pound small forward is reevaluating his recruitment.

"After careful consideration and discussion with my family, I have decided to decommit from the University of Iowa and reopen my recruitment," Lewis told 247Sports. This kid might know where he is going before decommit??

I prefer older portal players, but would be happy with either Iowa kid available at this time. We just need a couple starter quality kids.

I like the idea of bringing in an experienced portal player to back up Jacobsen.

But when you get a chance to add a player of this caliber, you have to go for it.

Look at Duke. They signed an experienced portal player named Gillis. And they signed a high school guy named Flagg to play the same position! Who was the greater contributor to their success this year? The portal player or the high school phenom?

If a guy has talent it doesn’t matter what his experience is.

The bigger question is with Psinter’s love of playing a 3 guard offense, would he actually change his philosophy and recruit a real small forward to play the 3?

I’d also love to add Sisley when he decommits form IU

We need proven D1 players. All in for next year. Not saying this kid isn't good, but we need proven players only.
Depends on numbers. Let's say we have four spots open due to departures plus the two extra openings, you could do three portal and then go after this guy. Of course, we don't even know if he would be interested or fits or whatnot.

Sounds a lot like 5* Tucker for old IU, how did he turn out, except this guy is only a 4 star! I don't understand when people drool over ball players that some fat guy with a clip board rated, like Painter said if these guys who rate these players were good at what they did, they would be coaching some where and Matt's history says he's right. Sisley made his choice, I don't want any part of him, good riddance! There is going to be a record amount of portal entries this year, the cafe is going to be open. Painter said the other day, the days of knowing the makeup of a team before the next season is over, most teams won't have a clue what their roster is until late in the summer. The amount of players planning on a education is dying! SAD
