For those that missed it live, check out CMP with Steve Lavin and Mike Hill following the game. Interview begins at 1:51 following some highlights:

Terrific interplay between CMP and Lavin about Purdue being a Final Four team (sounds like Keady was stirring the pot here) and a basketball theory class Lavin taught at Purdue which Painter briefly attended. FS1 also showed a photo of the 1989-90 team (Matt's freshman year and Lavin as an assistant) and a photo of Lavin coaching up Steve Scheffler and Chuckie White.

Excellent Purdue basketball junkie material!

Fun video with Lavin and Painter ribbing each other.

On one hand, it is a form of a compliment to talk about us being a Final Four team (Lavin in this case. Hill mentioned Wojo said it too), but inside I cringe. Does anyone else cringe with me?

Long time Boiler fan and I feel I've seen too many Purdue teams (happens to other teams too, but I don't care about other teams) lose games they shouldn't because they start getting complements, over-confident and not doing what they did to make them good in the first place.

I think I cringe because I love the look and potential of this team. We are playing smart, we have good guards, good shooting, good bigs, we are well coached. I think we can beat so many good teams in college basketball, but I also think we will have trouble with very athletic teams with a couple NBA guys - which is the type of team you need to beat to get to a Final Four.

Maybe as a fan, feels a little bit like an alley way dog that's been kicked one too many times (heartbreaking loss) and as a defense mechanism, I'm bracing for the next kick - which isn't the right mentality.

Love this team and program. Love the way we play and the young men that represent the program and university. It will be exciting to see how the season unfolds. I just want to enjoy it for what it is. Just my preference if the media can keep us in the background and not over hype us. Actually, I would prefer it if they disrespect us.

Really entertaining and some good insights, there....with a quick jab courtesy of the former coach for good measure. Also, Steve Lavin has payed it forward for Gene Keady giving him his coaching opportunity.

I liked the part where Painter said Lavin always would preach man to man then goes gets a coaching job and plays mostly zone and Lavin just says "you have to adjust to your personel".

I thought Painter handled the Final Four question very well by pointing out that it's way too premature to talk about a deep postseason run after the third game.

Last night wasn't the first time that Steve Lavin reminisced on air about his time at Purdue and coaching under Keady. Brief though it was, the experience seems to have left an impression on him.

I prefer when they disrespect us, too.

And yes, I cringe!

I have never heard Lavin say anything but good things about Purdue and it's Coachs from his first day as a Commentator with ESPN. Really happy his health seems good and that he is with Fox now.

I really enjoyed that interview. You can see why the players like Painter. He knows his stuff, can be tough when needed, but can also joke around. I also thought it was interesting with the team huddle shots that Painter was talking specifics (what they did well, what they need to do when they get back in) and Wojo was not talking bball at all, just trying to pump up his kids with catch phrases and no substance. Seems like the players got a lot more out of Painters team huddles.

I noticed this as well. I took it more that Wojo knew Purdue wasn't exactly playing up to the potential it had shown and was able to control the game whereas Marquette was probably playing close to their ceiling and was having a hard time sticking with it. Not much you can do at that point other than to try and keep your team pumped up and excited. CMP was making adjustments and trying to get his team to find the rhythm they needed to keep control of the game.
