Cline wins 3 point contest

CSB: saw him in the halls earlier today waiting for someone to show up at school. Was somewhat shocked, as he did not look 6'5" to me at all.

Glad he is going to Purdue, but thought he would look bigger.

Hope he can be more consistent and accurate as a 3 pt threat than KS, or to a lesser extent, DM.

Does anybody know if this competition was legit it was held in Carmel so I am wondering if he was the only high major player there.

I believe if I remember correctly, this is going to be aired on cbs I think Sunday afternoon. Don't quote me, but if you look back in the posts, I supplied a link with the info.

Incoming Purdue recruits Ryan Cline and Tiara Murphy will participate in the American Family Insurance 3-point contest Wednesday, April 1 in Carmel in conjunction with the men's Final Four in Indianapolis.

Cline will have home court advantage since he attended Carmel. Cline is one of two players coach Matt Painter has signed for next season.

Murphy made 36 3-pointers and shot 33 percent for South Bend Washington last season. Murphy is part of coach Sharon Versyp's top 10 recruiting class set to join the Boilermakers.

There's also a slam dunk competition.

The event will be shown Sunday, April 5 at 3:30 p.m., on CBS.

Tickets are $5 at the doors.

First off, yes there were legit kids.

Secondly, winning a 3 point shooting contest is flashy, but not terribly meaningful (as he said, he's never shot 3s off of a ballrack).

The other thing to remember is that while I have not seen a ton of him playing, it's absolutely not fair to compare him to a Ryne Smith. A lot of his game is within the 3 point arc and he went to the free throw line a lot. He's definitely not a stand there and wait to shoot a 3 pointer type of guy. Obviously in college, particularly early on, he's not going to have the strength to do as much of that. But don't think that this guy is just a spot-up 3 point shooter.
