Carmel vs Homestead

Thanks for that link, Cline is taking the 3rd quarter over. Good looking quick shot! Swanigan on the other hand hasn't impressed me. He's going to get his points, but most are underneath where he just uses his size and weight to get easy shots underneath. I don't think that'll work for him at the next level near as much.

Homestead scores last 10 points to win 41-37

Carmel missed a lot of threes at the end. Biggie asserted himself at the end, but the difference maker was the kid who was guarding Cline, causing several misses after Cline's 10 point 3Q. Kid also hit their go-ahead three. Good HS game to watch.

Cline is for real. Much more rounded player with crisp passing, decent ball handling and rebounding than I expected. Biggie...is BIG. Seemed to get frustrated when he worked for position but teammates couldn't find him (sound familiar?). Jacked up a couple of questionable outside shots with the game on the line. Had 18 points total. No doubt he's a lot for any HS kid to handle.

Re: In 1H Cline outrebounded Swanigan 7 to 5

Would love to get CS to go with Cline.

Carmel, up 37-31, choked down the stretch. Lost 41-37.

Cline's got a great-looking stroke but his shot was a little off tonight. I was actually impressed with his ball-handling and slashing skills vs. a very stingy defender (can't remember the guy's name, but he was flypapered to Cline all game long).

How is Cline defensively? Similar to Mathias?

Sounds like he's a smart player who knows the game well, so probably has a high ceiling. But just curious.

At one point, one of Homestead's guards had a perfect, wide-open catch-and-shoot opportunity from 3 and with Cline sprinting out to contest the shot, the guy shot-faked and drove. Cline responded expertly with his feet and positioning and stopped the drive in its tracks.

I didn't watch him much off-the-ball on defense because I wanted to watch "Biggie" down low, but his on-the-ball defense looked solid.

I was at the game. Cline struggled from the field but I can say he will be speacil. He was the only Carmel player that really tried to score tonight so he faced lots of double teams. Homestead got all the calls and Cline was getting reached on every possession. He is not like Mathias he plays like Tyler Haws of BYU. He can hit any kind of shot and he is really solid at driving. His defense is good but not sure how well it will translate to the Big Ten.

Geist was on Cline tonight he was an Indiana All-Star last year who transfered to HHS. Swanigan isnt as good as people advertise him to be he will be an impact freshman but highly doubtful he will be a one-and-done. He is slow and still has lots of baby fat. Kind of reminds me of AJ Hammons but a little smaller with handles and can make 15 footers.

So is the Haws comparison ability or for his motor? Haws never stops moving and demands the ball. Haws is really good with a swagger; I like that when he's on your team.

The way Carmel uses him and he plays a lot like him he can make a shot from any angle. He doesn't even need space to get a good looking shot off.

If he ends up as good or better than Haws I'll be very happy.
