I think 2017 recruiting cycle is almost over, except if we're still waiting for Epperson and Ondigo.
2018 is critical for us simply because 2014 is graduating and our 2014 is just amazing. Painter's been trying to get players similar to our 2014 class. He probably accomplished 50%. Our 2018 targets are really interesting to look at.
Romeo Langford, solid five star from New Albany, everyone wants him because he's like no.3 of the nation. But seems like he might be a crimson. I heard that some people say that he came last Saturday but not sure. So many 2018 targets came last Saturday and I really am confused what exactly Painter wants to do. And he has better offers from Duke, Louisville, and Kentucky, etc. It's really hard to land a five star like him so I'd say Painter better put more effort on this one. We probably only have like 6% possibility of getting him.
Adam Trapp, another biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig guy from Minnesota seems like really interested in Purdue. But I cannot believe two players with exactly same height and weight on our team, it's interesting but I feel pressure. By the way, he's also a lefty. So both of our two 7'2 in 2018 are lefty, Painter just cannot get over lefty big guys. He likes Purdue because our success building big guys and Haas has been in contact with him. So I'd say it's our safest choice so far. Maybe 80%?
Here comes the funny part. We're all hacking each other's backyard in 2018.
Brandon Johns, four star SF from East Lansing, yes, EAST LANSING!!! We recruited him the hardest and he came last Saturday as well with his family. He's cool with us but his mother seems like really interested in our facility. I'd say really an awkward situation that he came last Saturday. We knocked down the Sparty really hard last Saturday but I think he might still stay at home. But nice try on hacking Izzo's backyard.
We cannot just hack Izzo's backyard, we need to do something with Crean's backyard as well. Musa Jallow, 6'5 SG who has many solid offers. I doubt he comes. That guy is definitely staying at home unless Crean gives up.
Crean wants to hack ours as well, he also gives an offer to our local player Robert Phinisee from McCutcheon HS. He's 5'11', reminds me of Painter's sub plan for 2014, maybe Painter wants another PJ? But don't forget that Isaiah Thompson is graduating in 2019. Phinisee's brother is attending Purdue next fall but Robert himself still remains neutral. I think he stays at home.
So far everyone's backyard's safe, everyone stays at home. But nice try for Painter, Izzo, and Crean.
