Lets start with this. The back 9 of the first round. This is the first time I've even seen Swan getting round 1 props. Is he going to settle for this? Being a flip of the coin at best at best splitting hairs at potentially being a second round pick to barely topping Kentucky's 3rd place player on their squad in the draft and being put lower than UCLA's 3rd place? "what Ike lacks offensively" What is this lackey squad pick time? Swan averaged 18.5 points. 12.5 rebounds PER GAME. And he is getting massively disrespected like that. Like he ain't nothing but a somebody don't care now. I wouldn't stand for this man. This screams to me top 10 pick stats but nobody cares because he is slow slow slow in a scouts eyes.

28. LOS ANGELES LAKERS
Ike Anigbogu, PF, UCLA: What Anigbogu lacks in offensive skills he makes up for with tenacity and toughness. He's a raw but interesting prospect who is still just 18 years old.
29. SAN ANTONIO SPURS
Caleb Swanigan, PF, Purdue: There has to be a place in the NBA for anybody who produces at the high-major level the way Swanigan did this season. The 6-9 forward averaged 18.5 points and 12.5 rebounds for the Big Ten champions and was a consensus First Team All-American.
30. UTAH JAZZ
Edrice Adebayo, C, Kentucky: Adebayo doesn't have the skillset most NBA franchises prefer from power forwards these days. But he's a good rebounder with a great motor who finishes exceptionally around the rim. Throw it up, and he'll dunk it.

Look at this now:

2. PHOENIX SUNS
Josh Jackson, SF, Kansas: The Suns could obviously go many directions with this pick. But ? if they don't take one of the elite point guards ? the selection should be Jackson. The 6-8 wing is a top-shelf athlete who averaged 16.3 points, 7.4 rebounds and 3.0 assists in his lone year of college. He projects as a high-level contributor on both ends of the court.
3. LOS ANGELES LAKERS
Lonzo Ball, PG, UCLA: Ball was raised in the Los Angeles area and has made it clear he'd prefer to be a Laker. Whether he'd be able to transform that franchise the way he transformed UCLA by averaging 14.6 points, 7.6 assists and 6.0 rebounds is up for debate. But the 6-6 point guard becoming the face of Magic Johnson's franchise would be quite the storyline.
4. PHILADELPHIA 76ERS
Dennis Smith Jr., PG, NC State: The Sixers have interesting pieces in Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons. But the point guard position could use an upgrade. Smith is an obvious upgrade. He averaged 18.1 points, 6.2 assists and 4.6 rebounds in one season at NC State. He tore an ACL in high school. But you'd never know that by watching him now.
5. ORLANDO MAGIC
Malik Monk, PG, Kentucky: The Magic need shooting in the worst way and Monk would provide it. The athletic combo guard made 39.7 percent of his 3-point attempts in his one season at Kentucky while averaging 19.8 points. Why he doesn't use his athleticism more to get into the lane consistently is a mystery. But if Monk ever does that, he could develop into an All-Star.
6. MINNESOTA TIMBERWOLVES
Jayson Tatum, SF, Duke: Tatum closed the season strongly and developed into Duke's most dynamic player this season. He averaged 16.8 points and 7.3 rebounds while leading Duke to an ACC Tournament title. He should be a high-level scorer at the NBA level pretty quickly.
7. NEW YORK KNICKS
De'Aaron Fox, PG, Kentucky: The Knicks need all sorts of help, including point guard help. And Fox would provide it. He was sensational in Kentucky's Sweet 16 win over UCLA. The only thing he's missing is a reliable jumper, which can theoretically be developed over time.
8. SACRAMENTO KINGS
Jonathan Isaac, SF, Florida State: Isaac averaged 12.0 points, 7.8 rebounds and 1.5 blocks for a team that won 26 games. He has one of the biggest upsides of any prospect in this draft because he's a long forward who can play around the rim or all the way out to the 3-point line.

Swan had better numbers than ALLLLL those sucka MC's. All those punks ain't got nothing on his numbers. But the scouts put Swan at the bottom of the barrel like old beer. Is he going to settle for that? Imagine if he had the wherewithal to return for one more year and produce same as he did with less turnovers and more quickness. Swan would be a top 10 pick. Undoubtedly. And there comes that money. Moe money styled. Then again he could be a second round pick this year riding pine accepting being picked lower than UCLA's 3rd best player in this year's draft. I know I'd be pretty pissed off.

If I was San Antonio's pick, I'd be happy. if he went to philly, he'd probably get injured. He'd make a nice pick for the bucks, so we could trade no defense always injured Jabari Parker.

I don't think you know how the NBA works. Or drafts.

I've seen Swanigan anywhere from 26-33 in mock drafts for this year.

He still gone...

If he's gone he's gone to the Euro league for a few years and that means endorsements go to the bizye. Easy money don't last in the NBA. It all depends what a fellow is looking for. Being the best or watching the best. Because 33 pick is a whole lot of watchen. While being a top ten picks means shoe deal smiles with a high profile.

Just ask JaJuan. He knows. It takes 20 years of that salary to equal one 2-3 year shoe deal for the Jordan 10 draft gems. If you ain't a draft gem why risk second round money? NBA only has one rule. It is an easy rule. BE A DRAFT GEM. If you ain't then stay back until YOU ARE A DRAFT GEM. Tiffany's level. Be a Tiffany diamond not some local Jeweler diamond with a big ole mark. Don't be that guy in the draft. There aren't many Tom Brady's out there. Beleee that. Don't be a Tom Brady pretenda. Be a gem y'all. That's the only rule you gots to follow and then the money be following you.

Do you want to be a Serie A? A Serie A or NBA top grade in the USofAheyyyy now?

Caleb will find a place in the NBA. They draft on measurables. He's relentless on the boards and i don't see that changing.

You know there will be a whole new crop of "DRAFT GEMS" next year, right?

Yah but they ain't proven goods. Scouts doubt bigtime Swans speed. He's got size and stats. They're calling him a fluke low balling him as second round money. Calling him worse than 3rd tier UCLA and Kentucky goods. He put up top 5 numbers. Hands down. You got to ask why he's such a low pick. It's because he's slow. My guess is they're seeing clumsiness. That would tell me as a player I need to go back to college 1 more year. I need to put up same numbers and I need to build my speed up like Neva before. Then come back with back to back round 1 numbers. Proven speed capabilities. A final four appearance. That's big money style. That's how you become a draft gem. Otherwise it ain't gonna be nothing but second round money and an easter bunny. Swan put up shoe deal stats and he's got a little smarty pants agent in his ear screaming low ball money. Now if it were me I'd be telling my agent 12.5 rebounds per game. 18 points per game. I'd be like bro 40 percent behind 3 point line. And y'all telling me I am 4th tier UCLA goods with them skinny nobodybheads? I'd be like returning bigtime. Build speed, numbers, and be a beast in final four. Dominate. That's gonna force somebody to overlook little boy fads in the draft and Swan might be a gem draft choice next year. And gems get money at Tiffanys. You don't see no billionaires shopping at the local Kings Jewler.

The NBA drafts 85% on potential 10% on skill and 5% on stats. Best recent examples I can think of how backwards the system is:

2010: Kentucky back up Center Daniel Orton averaged 3 pts and 3 rebounds and was drafted 29th. All potential. He is currently out of any sort of professional basketball.

2013: Bruno Cabolco: averaged 4 ppg on some low minor league Brazilian team. He was the 20th pick. Still has yet to play a meaningful minute in the NBA

If Biggie and Barnes truly believe he can significantly improve his quickness and speed, then there is an argument to return. Unfortunately, there is a physical limit to how fast or quick a person can be. At some point it is genetics. Biggie has worked and trained very, very hard to get his body where its at. It is a miracle that the 300+ pound 8th grader has even it this far. If anyone could overachieve and surprise everyone once again it is him, but I trust that he knows his body and what he is and isn't capable of.

No problem with general content....but the overall way this reads - it has to be at least a 1-2 six pack post.

I think this plays deeply to Swans advantage. He has to get faster. Hand eye coordination quickness skills and wind sprints over and over all year. Do all the things from last year. Weigh in several times a day. Come lean and mean next year with some angst. Angst to dominate. That's why that Kansas game was such an opportunity cost. It basically cemented the scouts view. Kansas picked up style dunk points with a lil embarrass Purdue fun. Kansas got their guy sitting pretty as a top 5 gem and Purdue game upped his draft statz.Swan sitting as 4th tier goods with better numbeees. If it were me I'd come back without a hesitation and build my name. Domination level. With intent. Worst case scenario I'd be looking same status in draft next year at worst all else fails. But I wouldn't let that happen. Come back and inmprove quickness enough to charge the lane strong and less turnovers. Show some more jazz. Now we're talking big money. He needs to get more people yapping greatness in the media. Brainwash some scouts with a lil more jazz. Then next year get some shoe deal greatness.

We need to remember that he's still 19 years old. His body still has a long way to mature and develop lean muscle fibers. These are very important formative years.

I'd be thrilled to see Biggie get drafted by the Spurs -- they are a top notch organization. I'd hate to see him get picked up by an awful team that wastes his talents.

I wish Biggie the best - he gave Purdue two good years. I'd love to see him return, but that is not what is in the cards. He has reached his ceiling as far as the draft goes -- if he stays and doesn't become out-of-this-world, he will get penalized, which is all that is wrong with the NBA draft. He needs to go now.

I think a perfect scenario for biggie is falling to the warriors. He takes draymond's spot and becomes a better version of him... ends up a cult hero of the NBA

Disagree as draft status for JJ and Hammons went higher each year they stayed additional in college. JJ went into first round sticking around. He still ended up in euro league because he was bottom pick. Gotta get high pick. Or start learning Italian. JJ was far more athletic.

Stephen Curry is a case point example of why if Swan doesn't return he might as well start learning Spanish or Italian. Curry stayed that 3rd year and he killed it ended up quadrupling his draft status to 7th and now he's a star in a fancy car.

Further to this Curry's dad was nobody's fool either having been a former NBA guy.

Of particular attention:
The lightly recruited Curry burst onto the national scene a year ago in helping Davidson of the unheralded Southern Conference get within a missed a 3-pointer of the Final Four.

The tournament matters peeps. Big time more than you know in basketball. His dad waited because his dad knew he wasn't going to be a lottery pick after his sophomore season. Why go pro? It would have been a crazy decision to not have a junior season but he was projected that year to be a borderline 1st 2nd round pick. His dad said he ain't going let his kid get low balled like that. Stayed his junior year and got that lottery pick. The lottery and NBA has one rule if you want to be a star. If you ain't winning lottery this year you best get another ticket and return. Be a star before you get there. Swans not there yet speed wise. He's got a lot of room to improve. He needs another year believe it. Now Curry got that 7th pick following year. Increased his stats. You increase ur stats and play for a final four. Accept nothing less and he should do just that if he stays.

We think exactly alike. Thanks for your posts on this topic... Unfortunately, most on this board disagree with us. The poster who said 85% on potential is mostly right, however this rarely works out for those teams that make the "Darko" picks on potential. A good business decision would be to come back and keep improving. His turnovers were still bad last year and he could dramatically improve there. I love Biggie and only want the best for him and high 2nd round is a travesty for this guys...
