I count 7 guards on that team and Carsen is the shortest. Still a lot of competition for playing time.
Any idea what's happening with the other Purdue players while Painter and Carsen are training to win a world championship? They were practicing as a team every day before the U19 tryouts.
Purdue's social media accounts posted updates of all the practices when Painter was still around. Nothing since. It's a wasted opportunity to take a couple weeks off when the NCAA is giving no restrictions on practice time so Purdue doesn't embarrass the entire country. "They will be free from any NCAA limits on summer practice time."

I don't know specifically what's been going on the last few days, but Painter answered the question about practice plans after day one.

Painter: "We'll practice about 3 to 4 times a week...We'll probably get to 27 to 30 practices. And we'll probably scrimmage in there, and we'll probably have a couple of those practices as workouts. You know and shorter practices but just individual workout type stuff. So, I think, you know, when you talk about 10 traditional practices for a normal trip, now that triples..."
Just for comparison, Self's plan for Kansas was 5 practices per week in 2015. Of course, that would only add up to 15 total practices since his Kansas team only had 3 weeks of practice in prep for the 2015 WUGs (games were in July instead of Aug).

That seems to make a lot of sense. 27 to 30 practices is a lot. These are college kids but you can burn someone out and that would be terrible for Purdue next season. It's not like these guys aren't going to sit around doing nothing if there not official practices. They are still going to play ball.
Did I miss the official "no practice" announcement? Just because you were not informed about practice does not mean it isn't happening. And teams can hold practices without the head coach for a few days. Deep breaths...it'll be okay.

I was kind of chucking myself. "When the Cat is out of the house" is not so much in play here. I think there are a few assistant coaches around. I think some fans are happier being miserable. To the point of making up imaginary transgressions by the coaching staff to complain about. To each his own.
Why did Painter and all those players waste time going to Fort Wayne the other night!!!??? They could have been practicing!

Actually, it's a month and change, unless you're not interested in Team USA (aka Purdue Men's Basketball) winning a World University Games championship.
The team could go the "No Coach" route. It worked out alright for the '03-'04 squad:
