I mean, I would clean this place up in two seconds.

Hoosier fans gloating >>> GONE.

Sparty trolls >>> GONE.

Do you have to be an employee of G&B to achieve mod status?? Or could a plebe like me, who frequents the board more than the current mods, be handed the responsibility??

It's a serious question bc I have been intertron message boarding since the early-mid-00s, and there are always members of the community whom are granted Moderator status for day-to-day clean up duty. Not Administrators, Moderators.

Bueller?

Calling the trolls out on their miserable, insignificant lives is a temporary solution...but having the power to take the trash out to the street would be nice.

I support your candidacy and offer a slogan:
"Keep GBI Clean!"

I support this. But you have to get rid of the trolls from all sides, meaning Boilers too.

One of the reasons I leave here is because of the level of meltdown this forum gets in to after a loss. And we're talking calling Painter names, calling players out, etc. That isn't constructive it's counter-productive and reflects poorly on us as a fanbase.

I was one of the first members of this site when it came around and it used to be a great place to have civil conversations, but there was a mass exodus of good posters a while back that left a void that those of us that remained can't completely fill. But taking out the trash sure would go a long way to getting it back to how it used to be.

From a financial perspective G&B probably receives a fair amount of their revenue from advertisements on the site who's rates are usually determined by the amount of clicks/page views.

Though many of us don't like it I can see a financial incentive for allowing anti-Purdue posters to frequent the site unabated (start to ban them and they may stop coming entirely knowing they can't trash Purdue). I suppose you could argue that they drive away Purdue posters but I would speculate that the net gain of clicks/views is greater with rival posters coming on to the board but I have no quantitative evidence to support that assertion.

Just like college sports, this site is a business and I can respect that (though I agree it is a cesspool on here after bad losses).

Censorship is how dick-tatorships begin .
You must learn tolerance for the wide array of opinions in the world.
May the bluebird of happiness nest in the less public part of your life.

Have watched a pretty good web site that provided a great place for Purdue fans to meet and exchange ideas, plus get access to Purdue news, deteriate to a single site where the main purpose seems to be to provide income to a very few....and do its best to secret articles and news from anyone who won't pay for it. When younger and working, simply paid them for premium site access-but there was even then much more free info for all fans....Sadly, everything is about the $$$ as opposed to the fans and supporters now..... So anything goes on the free board as really think GBI could care less about this site.

Your censorship comment reminds me of Eddie Murphy on SLN for some reason.

Please define trolls. Is that anyone who has a non-everything-is-awesome viewpoint? Or more like children with their parents' cellphones calling people pedophiles and pussies in every post?

There's a big difference between having a differing opinion, and degrading Purdue and us fans just to be hateful, with no other real purpose.

The same trolls repeating the same things about 1980 and 1932 and Pork-chop, and BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH ad infinitum. They really aren't even funny or clever or unique. Clever and unique I can appreciate...they're just plain bad at internet, and totally uncreative.

I've been forum tronning for damn near 15 years. I know the difference between mature healthy differing debate, and hateful trolling, be it funny or unfunny. I am more than equipped to handle this responsibility.

I live in Louisville and deal with UK fandom on the reg.

I actually found myself pulling for IU a little at the end, just so the B1G will have knocked UK out two years in a row, and I can stab my UK friends with that fact for the next year.

A bunch of them have UK going DEEP in our pool too, so that was a bonus to them losing.

Congrats. Nice win.

Just use the ignore feature then, I guess.

I would support another moderator or offer my own services but I would not want Cleanface to be one.

You're probably right. I'm shocked this thread lasted this long w/o someone else saying this earlier. lol.

Honestly, I started this thread like 99% of the things I start/post here, tongue in cheek and half sarcastic.

I do think this board needs a more active and present Mod tho. Much to my surprise, I've never seen anyone else volunteer for the job, or even mention it. Someone needs to step up if it is an option that G&B allows (having a forum member Moderate).

Vote Trump!!!

lol....

There used to be mods on here that were militant. IU fans that even considered posting had to speak rainbows and sunshine about Purdue, or they were blacklisted for life.

I understand deleting trolling posts. It's necessary, but don't go over the top.

shirley you're not serious?

not sure any team in the country has a board that lets as much crap from trolls get posted as GBI (hence this thread). you might have missed the stuff msu and iu fans were posting here the last couple months...
