Can a player foul a fan?

I saw this post (purdue.forums.rivals.com post) and got to wondering, should a non-player/coach (e.g., fan, cheerleader, facilities person) step on or near the court and a player knocked them to the ground or removed them from the playing area, could the player be called for a foul?

I assume the answer is no because the play would stop due to "interference". If it was done on purpose by the fan, then additional penalties may be awarded.

I remember a game when I was playing in HS (the bleachers were very close to the playing floor), when one of my friends was warned by the official about yelling and screaming at an opposing player inbounding the ball. He was warned to sit down, or there would be a technical assessed against our team.

He sat down.

In a pro game, the opp coach was on the floor and the Mavs' PG ran into him (accidentally on purpose) and the Mavs were awarded a technical free throw.

Didnt Tom crean get run over once when he stepped on the court? I don’t think anything was called, it was pretty funny.

a few weeks ago at the wisconsin fame Davison took out a fan standing really close to the court and the sucker got covered in his beer (he was not happy) and then the dudes girlfriend was holding Davison’s hand to add insult to injury. They hugged it out but after the break they went back to the fan and he looked pissed.

The one I was thinking of was Mo Wagner in 2017, he hit a three and as he ran backwards on the court put crean on his @$$.

I remember when Etwann was throwing the ball inbounds from the side of the court in Ass hall and an IU fan stood up behind him and either grabbed his arm or pushed him. Don't remember if any thing was called.
