I think Brohm is just leveraging more money out of us. Smart move on his part. Think he's ours in the coming days. A former QB who understands the rich QB history at Purdue and the chance to resurrect that. Mix in 3.5+ million a year, new facilities, renewed commitment to football, B10 (West). Cincy doesn't have that kind of money to spend, they aren't P5. Baylor is a walking scandal at this point, crap conference, why touch that.

Think we have him almost locked up.

I am optimistic thinking we have one of our top choices, but won't be surprised if it's the other way around and Gotskowski kick in the balls.

I included Cincy, financially they are In No position to pay him what we can. Non P5.
Maybe/hopefully not,
But they have been pretty competitive so far.

coaches hot seat has tuberville ranked 26th nationally this year, 3.2m total comp, for highest non p5 (sandwiched between Jones and Mullen).
His base alone the previous year was listed at 2.2m.

They just went through a massive renovation with the facilities. Are funding a massive basketball renovation, paying TT's buyout. I think they will stay around 2-2.5 million for a coach. Still wouldn't put that job on the level of ours.

I think taking the Baylor job would be a risk without knowing if they are going to be facing future NCAA penalties

Baylor is going to outbid us for sure. Hopefully, their looming sanctions will scare Brohm away. They have a new stadium and deep, deep pockets.

Hey Tommy is available now lol

Crazy that during the last go around
We were trying to hire their coach, now some are talking about competing with them for one

Will their sanctions be significant enough to deter a candidate?
Last month the NCAA said there would be no big penalties coming like Penn St

Also how will they outbid us when berghoff/others assured from the beginning that 'money ain't a thang'?

I agree with that actually. I hope we get Brohm, but I don't see why we would go down the line to plans D,E,F. I would go after some of these guys that have good records generally but had bad years and unrealistic expectations that just got fired.

Right now UC gambled hard that the big 12 was coming, and now that money isn't the athletic department is starting to feel the heat. There was talk that if they had to fire Tommy they would have to wait until the 8th because they needed the extra million for the buy out. The program isn't what it was. They have a handful of loyal fans but the money just isn't there.

Charlie Strong?

It makes since brohm would take a few days to think. His game just ended yesterday. Be nice if we hear something in the next few days.

The penalties that PSU got were some of the harshest the NCAA has ever dealt outside of the SMU 'Death Penalty.' You can see why SMU is now so hell bent on keeping Chad Morris around as they gave him a good bump and extension recently. SMU is now actually relevant after almost 30 years of football. Baylor probably won't get the death penalty, but they will definitely be losing multiple scholarships per year over a span of time.

The new NCAA death penalty should be they have to take on Burke as AD.

That is considered "Cruel and Unusual Punishment". That would worse than the death penalty. Look how many years it's taken us to claw back........oh wait, we are just getting to the low point. Burke is a SLOW Death Penalty.
