Umm no if you look at the opposing teams player hitting a big 3 he celebrates. Then the douche starts mocking his celebration watch again you clearly missed it....

Did you see the right side of the screen? That's from a Sports talk show with Wilbon and Kornheiser, so yes, it got media coverage.

Yes heller but it was a highlight discussion, there was no mention of that.

A coach can't get excited? He probably was getting mocked by all of LSUs student section at the time.

Well I'm in the minority I guess, to me a coach should not act like a 13 year old punk. Sorry that is taking excited to a next step, he wasn't excited over his team he was making fun of a kid hitting a huge shot that he will probably remember forever. Meh......smh at this response

Lol no the fact that everybody is not appalled by this slimeballs actions here(the man who's nearly ruined the game) is absurd

You're right. I did miss it. I still don't have an issue with it, though. I'd love to see Painter show some other emotion than anger at his team on the sideline.

I understand your point, jadeezra. I think some of us (although I can only really speak for myself) are probably a little desensitized to these types of things because everything nowadays seems to be over-the top, And there is also some "Cal" fatigue.....unless you are part of Big Blue or absolutely loathe Kentucky......you just maybe want a break from the subject, sometimes. Maybe that's what he's counting on.

I will say I don't ever recall seeing a coach do something like that in a game in response to an opponent player, and it does open him up to fair criticism. Funny thing, though, is that Calipari's "celebration" might actually be better than the one he was imitating.

The question at the bottom of the screen was "Did Calipari Overreact"? I'd say that's media drawing attention to his actions.

I kind of agree with the OP. Feel like it's pretty douchey to mock a kids reaction after a made three pointer

Context matters OP.

Cal's reaction was intended to motivate his own team and not mock LSU. We did not play well in stretches of that game.

On if he had seen a game changing play like the technical foul on Karl-Anthony Towns...

"Well that and the fact that I refused to call timeout. My staff called
timeout...Nope. No timeouts this time. They're going to learn their
lesson on this. We're not losing in March because of a play like that.
For no reason? You're out of your mind, figure it out. Thank goodness I
didn't because we needed those timeouts down the stretch, but the
other thing I'm proud of Karl is he came back and he grew up. Big
rebound, big steal, big basket. (He) won the game. Now I doubt ever in
his life will he chin up on a basket ever again, but that's why I
looked like an idiot on the sideline. That's why I refused to call
timeout and make these guys do it. I even said `I hope we lose. (Y'all)
watch this.' Then it was basket, basket, basket, and then he sunk in
his chair."

Lol yeah uhhhh right, is that what he told everybody? I sure wish I could steal a new shelby and after I get caught tell everybody it was a joke and they would believe me. Unbelievable

Are you really that bent up to hate on Calipari to look for something like that? I actually appreciate Calipari you know why? Because he is making a mockery of the whole one and done rule. That the NCAA tries to hide under this facade of these players being student athletes etc... I am not a big fan of Calipari but you have to give him credit for taking advantage of the system and being able to mold basically all star talent into a team in a short amount of time.

Calipari would be a great choice for our Next USA Basketball coach. He is not paying players off as jokes have been made. Kentucky spends what $17 mil on recruiting. Michigan St. is around $9 mil. The SEC spends like 5 times more then any conference in football recruiting. Nick Saban gets paid like an NFL Coach. When you sway the balance of your school's focus soo far to athletics versus academics. You will win in athletics.

I didn't go out of my way to find that. My brother caught it watching spotscenter....... Roll

You sure don't know the history of u ass and Memphis. Laughable I'm done.... Our usa coach????? Sure bro

Calipari has never been accused of a single violation by the NCAA. People blow this stuff way out of proportion. DRose handlers are the ones who set up his fake SAT and Camby signed with an agent too early, neither one of which was traced back to Cal. It would be like if your children got in trouble and everyone assumed you told them to go out and do something bad.

However his mocking of a player on an opposing team was the height of being a douchebag, but no worse than Bobby Knight telling media people that Brian Cardinal was a dirty player.
