and 17 other states are signed up to do whatever California does. Here's the reality of this situation and the reality of electric cars.

The sale of new gas passenger cars would be banned by 2035. Which means all commercial vehicles are unaffected, and you can still drive the gas vehicle you own, and you can still buy and sell used gas vehicles.

You can debate whether that’s good or bad, but at least be honest about the premise.

Yes, I didn't mean to make it sound as if all gas cars can't drive there. Just the sale of them. But either new car sales are going to die off, or this will have a massive negative effect on things (especially with 18 states all doing this). We don't have the infrastructure to take care of that many electric vehicles. California barely can take care of the ones they do now.

I don’t know, I’m not all that concerned about it right now. It’s another 13 years before anything goes into affect. Between now and then, there will be 3 elections for governor. If it seems like this is going to create a major problem, there’s plenty of time to walk it back.

What this does, which people don't seem to get, is it kills the used car market. People who can't afford new cars also can't afford to be a used EV that needs basically the cost of a new car put into it to replace the battery packs. Cars are becoming yet another disposable appliance.

Yes, there are already starting to be stories coming out of people buying used EVs and then finding out they bought a worthless piece of junk because the batteries are effectively shot. As more of these stories keep coming out, the resale on EVs are going to absolutely plummet.

You're kidding right? This is California we are talking about. This won't get walked back.
