I remember several wanting Painter gone and Cuonzo coming in. I said then - I LOVE Cuonzo. I had classes with him. However, he hasn't shown to be any better than Painter.

Well, today Cal lost in an even bigger upset. Who wants Painter out for Cuonzo now?

LOL so you think they should have lost to Hawaii?

Well I did pick the upset, so yes. Does it not stand to reason that losing your best offensive weapon the day before a big game will hurt your chances?

I like Painter so this isn't intended to be a knock on him. I just think their loss is more understandable given the circumstances.

I think the ironic point everyone is trying to make, and not that you're saying this or have said this, is that many people have been clamoring for Martin over Painter.

And yeah, Hawaii was a popular upset pick, just like LR was over Purdue. It's the NCAA Tournament....$hit happens! Not something worth losing your mind over (again, not saying you are).

I like Cuonzo too, but the notion that man, I'd rather have him than Painter - doesn't really play out on paper.

I believe Zo has more fire in his belly, and with the right kids, that fire would burn brightly. Keep in mind, only his second year at Cal, so working with players he didn't recruit; which, I'm not saying that's bad ... but, the program is in a bit of unrest with the recent Asst Coach development and losing his top player.

Which was his assistant coach...and he's playing with plenty of his guys.

He also didn't do much at Tennessee.

As for the fire comment, I'm not sure how you come up with that assessment. None of us see what these guys are doing/like off the court. People involved with basketball have VERY positive things to say about Painter, so not sure I'd agree with what you seem to be coming up with based on a hunch.

On a hunch? First of all, you don't know "how much" I know about the program. And "none" of us see what these guys are doing/like off the court? Seriously? I'm not making a hunch. Secondly, who are your "People involved with basketball ...?" Gee, I could say, the middle school coach at Southwestern is involved with basketball! If you're talking about the talking heads on ESPN and the likes ... most of them don't know any more about Matt Painter than does my 84 year old aunt!

I wouldn't of expected Purdue to beat LR with AJ and Biggie out. So why would you guys expect Cal to win with two of their top guys out.

And what's Michigan State's excuse? What was Baylor's excuse?

Everyone's allowed excuses! You get an excuse! You get an excuse!

But if you say anything about Purdue...

Love that you bring up Cal having no depth...because we know that has nothing to do with a coach! It's the players fault that they aren't good enough! Geesh.

Sorry coach Painter!
