Burned bridges

Taking a break from the coaching search discussions for just a bit and back to the AD situation...

What bridges that may have been burned by MB1 or anyone in previous administration do you feel MB2 should be working to rebuild?

Tiller, Spack, and Hope are the most obvious examples I can think of. Not that Purdue is going to ever hire them in any capacity, but it generally helps to have higher profile alumni and former employees as friends of the program as opposed to enemies. Would Kendrick be another? How about former players? Wasn't there an issue with Gary Harris' mother?

Tiller comes back for a couple of games a year, so I'm not sure what you need to mend there.

I'm not sure Spack or Hope necessarily need "mending" per se. Maybe you reach out to Spack even if he's not a candidate but Hope? Not sure there is much value and he's unlikely to be receptive.

I think they started down the path already with former players but there is always more that can be done.

Kendrick seems like he's in a pretty good place with Purdue right now.

I also I take the fact that Tiller still comes back as a positive sign, but pretty sure he and MB1 butted heads a lot. Maybe not a burned bridge, but one that could be solidified perhaps now with a new AD had nothing to do with how his career ended. Hope was probably a reach. Maybe the new coach needs some Florida contacts LOL. Honestly, I just threw out a few names to get the ball rolling.

Would like to see Kendrick on the coaching staff

I liked Hope...players coach...rough on edges but a gamer!

Blue Collar...that's Purdue...bring the lunch pail...that's what he brought to Purdue.

Just too many silver spoon fed tight ass alumni didn't think he was polished enough.

I loved it when he brought the player over to Dick Rod at Michigan after the game to introduce him because he was a senior and got suspended a game because of RR comments and Big Ten heard and suspended one of our players.

Hope defended his players to the end and was a true players coach with fire in his belly....I am glad he is doing well elsewhere.

Now the offensive coordinator he had not so much....I could predict right now...screen play to the flat left, screen play to the flat right....oh and screen play again....geesh.

Anyways I think Kendrick and Tiller are fine.....Hope is never coming back unless with Tiller inviting him and just for him and his players.

Boiler Up!

Hope quit USF after last year. He's coaching HS football right now. No joke.

Yes and that tells you he loves the game and helping young men become something.

I wish we would have given him more time.....loved his passion.

Woof. Could barely win with Tiller's recruits and did a poor job himself of recruiting.

While Hazell wasn't a good coach...how many of his challenges were caused by a lack of talent here from the start? Danny Hope was an OL coach but left Hazell with a line in 2013 starting 3 RS FR and a converted TE.

But yeah, fire, passion....yadda yadda.

Whatever.....Hope recruited some good kids to Purdue and they did go to some bowl games.....just not Rose Bowls.

I can have my opinions and just like your comments...woof woof yadda yadda I disagree.

Agree. Hope had his faults but he was not nearly as bad as people tried to make him out to be. Plus he was doing it with Burke holding back and forcing him to select bargain basement assistants.
