OSU thought a little to much of themselves until some adversity came their way. When they put their foot on the gas they're as good as anyone in the country. They were by far the best team in our league and would have given Alabama a better game than Sparty. Hawkeyes came from the weak west and aren't that good. I think MSU has peaked somewhat and I look for Michigan to do big things in the future.

They played their best two games of the year after the loss at home to MSU...a game that they should not have lost. They were without question the most talented team in the conference, and one of the two or three best in the country for that matter.

I believe Stanford should have been in the playoff, and they showed today just how good they are as well...I personally felt like the best four teams were Alabama, Stanford, Ohio St. and Clemson.

MSU should have lost to Michigan, struggled to hold on against Purdue and IU (an indictment greater than any) and easily could have lost to Iowa as well...they could have been a 4/5 loss team in the end and Alabama exposed them for what they were. Iowa benefited from an easy schedule for sure...as disappointing as MSU was last night, Iowa representing the B1G would have been worse.

UM was the big winner seemingly, as they rolled in their game and against a SEC team (albeit an overmatched one) and will no doubt be reminding everyone of the blowout of MSU on the recruiting trail (where they are already having tremendous success).

OSU was really good today and is probably the best team in the league. But I, too, was impressed with Michigan, even if it wasn't the best ever Florida team.

That said, what MSU has done over the past 4 or 5 years has been enviable.

Iowa is what they are - a pretty good team that took advantage of a soft schedule to go 12-0 but couldn't best MSU and wasn't close athletically to Stanford.

If Urban would of put some trust into his QBs they would of dominated the regular season and would of been undefeated.

The inability of tOSU to get to the playoffs was clearly on Urban. The decision to go with Jones instead on Barrett and worse yet, multiple QB when Jones struggled, set the stage for a season of underachievement. MSU doesn't get the talent to compete with a well coached and very disciplined Alabama squad. Michigan will compete with tOSU for future B1G supremacy and a seat at the playoffs. The second tier of the B1G is fairly pedestrian - good to so-so coaching and fair talent but they can't play with the top 20 on a national level.

MSU has won at least 11 games 5 out of the last 6 seasons & had won 4 consecutive bowl games including a Rose & Cotton before NYE against Bama. One bad night doesn't tarnish what Mark Dantonio has done with the elevation of this program. Sparty isn't going anywhere.

I agree what Dantonio has done is very impressive and I expect them to be very competitive as long as he's around. However it is a bit of a zero sum gain between OSU, UM, and MSU. They compete for so many of the same recruits that one team often improves and at the expense of the other. It will be interesting to see how Harbaugh vs Dantonio plays out.

They went 12-1. They beat Notre Dame in the Fiesta Bowl. They will finish with ANOTHER top 5 ranking. WTF is your definition of "season long underachievement?" SMH...
