BTT

Pretty sure we are double bye if either OSU or MSU lose. If they both lose, we are the 3 seed. Our first game will probably be against one of them though. Assuming we win.

You are indeed correct. Right now there are four teams tied for third place with 11-6 records. If all four win (MSU @ IU, OSU @ Wisky, Iowa at home against NW, and Purdue at home against Illinois), MSU would be #3, Iowa #4, Purdue #5, and OSU #6.

But, if OSU loses at Wisconsin, the tiebreakers for the remaining three 12-6 teams change and we'd jump Iowa for the #4 seed.

If IU beats MSU and OSU loses, we'd jump to #3 with Iowa at #4.

But, if OSU wins and MSU loses, we'd be back to a #4 seed with Iowa at #3.

So, we need to win and have OSU or MSU (or both) lose to get a double-bye.

I despise MSU, but still not as much as IU. So, I'd like to see IU lose and miss the dance if we can still get a double bye.

I'm starting to get the feeling that our seeding is pretty much out of our hands at this point and the game saturday may have little to no impact on it win or lose. Even getting in to the NCAA may already be "decided" for us by game time.

This year out of all the years just seems weird in regards to who gets in the tourney or not.

Yes that's what I understand it to be......

Best case we end up a 3...
Wisky beats O$U
IU beats MSU
we own tie breaker over Iowa

So we could finish at #3 or worst case #6......

I think Purdue wins, IU wins, Iowa wins, Maryland wins and just not sure what Wisky team will show up since the game doesn't matter much, but hoping Wisky wins.........

Top 4 in Big Ten:
Wisky
Mary
Purdue
Iowa

Then the dust settles and the following are in the NCAA:
Wisky #1 seed
Maryland #3 or #4 seed
O$U #6 or #7 seed
Iowa #7 or #8 seed
Purdue #8,#9 or#10 seed
IU #9,#10 or #11 seed

agreed.....I can never cheer for IU...I will have to let others do that.

Let the chips fall where they may.....just beat Illinois and let's see what happens.

I do hope we get a shot at Wisky in Big Ten Tourney and Kentucky in the NCAA.

Those two things alone will help this team for next year.

Boiler Up, next few weeks going to be a fun ride in Big Ten Tourney, NCAA Tourney or NIT.

Actually, in four-way tie we lose the tie-breaker to Iowa since Iowa beat Maryland and we lost to Maryland. That's why we'd be the #5 seed if there's a four-way tie for third place.

The same is true if Purdue, Iowa, and OSU all finish 12-6 and MSU loses to finish 11-7. We'd still get a double-bye, but it would be as the #4 seed and Iowa would be the #3.

We only win a tie breaker against Iowa if (a) both OSU and MSU lose or (b) only OSU loses.

Ahh ok

Well let's control what we can...Purdue wins and let everything else fall where it may.

then all good things happen.....

Boiler Up!

Agree - we need to focus on Illinois and playing with the same emotion as we did against IU in WL. Take care of our own business first, can't control the other outcomes.

Yes, you're absolutely right. I meant to type OSU loses "to" Wisconsin but accidentally substituted an "at" instead. Kinda changes things doesn't it? Thanks for catching it.

There is no way if we lose this weekend we are in. Conference tourneys are the last thing the committee looks at in the in or out scenario. Unless we win it of course. And it could affect our seeding if we beat Illinois and secure our place in the Dance.

BTW the committee fills out four complete brackets at least to account for upsets on Sunday.
