BTN Replay of PU vs Carroll College

Refresh my memory. If I have BTN on Dish I still have to pay for BTNPlus. Correct?

Yep, its extra. dumb. I will by it for one month (like $10) and watch the three games on it this year... then cancel. At least this year all the games are in November so you can get away with just one month.

I'll pass.. Nothing happening important enough at this point to give them another 10. I can wait for the replay.

I might add it for one month for the 3 games starting tonight.

I miss the 80s, the 90s and TTV4. I really do

I miss the 80's and 90's too but this isn't the reason. Most people are far better off now in their ability to watch Purdue basketball games than then.

If you do watch tonight, I highly recommend tunein radio with Cliz synced up to the game. I know some don't care for his homer-calling of the game, but it can be difficult to listen to the students calling these games on Big Ten Plus.

No thanks. Can't wait until he retires and we get someone decent to replace him. Every other year or so I get caught in a situation where the only avenue for me to follow a game in real time is through his broadcast and it's like nails on a chalkboard to me. I think last year I had to listen to the Minnesota overtime on the radio and I remember being very annoyed because all he was doing was bitching about stuff and it took several minutes after turning the game on the radio for him to even give the score and time. Completely unprofessional. I can deal with a student call because at least they aren't professional. With Clisby, he's been like that for years and at this point I've given hope of him changing or anyone coming to their senses and canning him so I just have to wait for him to leave and hope they find a better replacement.

Oh thank you! Adding you to my ever growing list of my Boilermaker "heros" here on this Board:D

That might be and I completely understand the reasons. It just seem really greedy not to allow local people in such a small radius not to get the games for free.

Agree I can't stand listening to that, he's really annoying. I understand being bias and all but come on

I lived in California for awhile late 80s/ early 90s, so I totally understand. I was lucky to catch a cbs game once or twice a year. It all comes down to greed, if the big ten network was created all games should be broadcasted on one of their regular channels no exceptions.

I don't think it's possible to broadcast all the exhibition and early season basketball games without the alternate channels and I doubt the demand justifies their use. I'm just happy to have an avenue available to watch them even if it costs me a minimal amount like $10 to catch 3 additional games lives.

I have lived in the South Bend area since about 2000 and before Big Ten Network I didn't get to see many Purdue basketball games on tv at all and I was still in Indiana. You are correct about the 80's and 90's in the Indy and Lafayette markets though. The put nearly all those on tv although I seem to recall sometimes Purdue getting bumped by a coinciding IU game on the Indy station.

Three years after he's gone you'll be tired of the replacement. Every team has an announcer that is a whiny homer.

I am sorry, but I grew up with John deCamp. He had the ability, as did many hoosier (not IU) announcers of the day, to describe the action in few words. And his description would paint a picture in your mind of the action. He also had the ability to give the opponent credit when they deserved it. So blessed that he was a Purdue person. LC can not do that.

I don't mind Newton. And to be honest, the fact that he is a homer is only the tip of the iceberg with Clisby. He's just not very good at what he does. If you can tell me what's going on, I don't mind you pulling for the home team a bit. Clisby just can't do it.

For those that can't make the game and don't have a BTNplus subscription:

The StudentU replay of tonight's game will be on BTN tomorrow night (11/2) at 6 pm according to the BTN website.
According to my TV scedule, it's on BTN. We don't need BTNplus.

Growing up in NW Indiana, I recall most if not all the mid 70’s up to the B1G Network Purdue games being picked up by good old channel 50. Jim Barber and Bob Ford with the calls.

It didn't bother me at the time, but whenever I see a clip of a game from the 80s or 90s, I appreciate what high definition has done for watching games on TV.

I still see Bob Ford at games from time to time.
