Brohm's 1st two seasons so far....

I reserve judgement until after the 2020 season. At that time he will have his recruits in his system. If next year's recruiting class is as good as this one there will be little excuse for less than 8 or 9 win seasons.

This loss to Minnesota was unfortunately pretty severe. We had a legitmate shot at going a very respectable 8 and 4 until we decided not to show up against the Gophers. Win our bowl game and we could have gone 9 and 4. That would have been huge! If we now win out, we go 7 and 5; which is barely a tick up from last year. Even if we win out in the regular season and then lose our bowl game, we have the same record as last year. Sure, we have had some great wins this year, but we need to come ready to play every game if we want to get to the next level. Just severely disappointed we were not ready to play today. Not sure how that happens or what happened today. Never saw this coming; not like this.

Seriously? We all knew this schedule was going to be more difficult than last year's. You can't just look at records year over year and sat there is no progress based on wins and losses. This team beat three ranked teams. Yes, the Minnesota loss is a bad one, but overall the trend is very positive.

Wow, somebody that thinks rationally about the situation. Nice post! Thanks for helping to contain the meltdown mess here.

Eastern Michigan...

Yep, beating three ranked teams in six games by a combined 48 points is an every year event on most Power5 campuses. Now let’s continue with this week’s edition of “Dumb Ass Comments,” . . . . Next
You don't come out of the shadows very often, but when you do...slam dunk.

Not in meltdown mode, just disappointed we did not come ready to play. Don't really think this year's schedule is all that much tougher than last year's. We lost a lot on defense coming into this year I realize that. The Ohio State win was epic, and beating the other 2 ranked teams was not bad, but it is also likely that Boston College and Iowa were a bit over-rated being ranked in the first place. Your season is measured by how well you do over the entire 12 games and post season. If we don't finish strong over the next 2 games it does not appear we have made as much progress as we thought we did. Don't get me wrong, I think Brohm is the best coach we have had since Tiller and over time he may prove to be even more sucessful than Tiller. Things are looking up and recruiting has been strong and we are light years ahead of where we were 2 years ago, but a reality check like yesterday, sort of makes you re-evaluate how much progress have we made from year 1 to year 2.

I was kinda worried about the game when I found out that it was snowing in Minneapolis. We are built to be fast, not strong. Snow kills speed. Minnesota, on the other hand, is massive. Did you see their RT? The guy is 6’9” and 400 lb! When our line couldn’t outmaneuver their line in the snow, the game was all but decided. Had the game been in a sunny day, the outcome would have been different. I hope Brohm has noticed this and make improvements, especially with the recruiting. I’m sure he has.

Yep, difficult schedule with only 3 returning starters on the defense. No real depth. Everyone should have known this was going to be the most difficult year of the rebuild, there’s been some bad games but you have to be impressed with where the program is and where it’s going.

I agree. We had won 4 big ten games in the previous 4 years; Brohm won that much big ten games in his first year, and now has already won that much with two more conference games left in our schedule. This was supposed to be our rebuilding year! I am disappointed that we didn’t win yesterday but there is no reason to panic. I’ll take any rebuilding year which has a good chance to be even better than the year before.

Right

So the premise Brohm and Hope are having similar career starts is no a good one?

No it's not. Hope didn't beat 3 ranked team in one year. Hope was rebuilding, but way too slowly and with a little progress. Granted he didn't have much support from the school ore department, but Brohm has done more with the worse team. Hope inherited Tiller's team, albeit the down year. Brohm inherited Hazell's team with the worst record in school history. There is no comparison.
