Heard a rumor from a reliable source that he is getting divorced. Any truth to this statement?

First, I hope you do not take this personal because I and many others are guilty of the same. I am of no higher standard and must remind myself from time to time. I just think now is a good time to review the “triple filter test”. Again, I apologize if this appears to be denigrating you because I share in the guilt. It is just that I think the below is a worthy thought for all as it was in the past, the present and will be in the future…

Socrates, one of the greatest Greek philosophers who lived from 469 to 399 BC, shunned gossip that was a favorite pastime in ancient Greece, as many historians have attested. People from all walks of life constantly indulged in sharing hearsay, rumors, and half-truths.

It is said that one day he came upon an acquaintance who ran up to him excitedly and said, “Socrates, do you know what I just heard about one of your students?”
“Wait a moment,” Socrates replied. “Before you tell me I’d like you to pass a little test. It’s called the Triple Filter Test.”
“Triple filter?” his friend asked.

“That’s right,” Socrates continued. “Before you talk to me about my student let’s take a moment to filter what you’re going to say. The first filter is Truth. Have you made absolutely sure that what you are about to tell me is true?”

“No,” the man said, “actually I just heard about it and…”
“All right,” said Socrates. “So you don’t really know if it’s true or not. Now let’s try the second filter, the filter of Goodness. Is what you are about to tell me about my student something good?”

“No, on the contrary… ”
“So,” Socrates continued, “you want to tell me something bad about him, even though you’re not certain it’s true?” The man shrugged, a little embarrassed. Socrates continued. “You may still pass the test though because there is a third filter—the filter of Usefulness. Is what you want to tell me about my student going to be useful to me?”

“No, not really,” the man admitted.
“Well,” concluded Socrates, “if what you want to tell me is neither True nor Good nor even Useful, why tell it to me at all?”

The man who had tried to spread gossip to the great thinker was defeated and ashamed.

Boomer? I had a young lady call me that once in the McDonalds drive thru. I proceeded to remind her that my generation ushered in the greatest genre of music in the history of mankind. And we celebrated it with a 3 day festival of peace and music in a small town in upstate New York called Woodstock. And all that her generation was noted for is self mutilation and being zombie lovers. I hope she felt a little defeated and ashamed too. ✌️

yeah, I miss Art Linkletter's "kids say the darndest things." Some thoughts are ageless and some are not. Some see that others don't...

If the Brohms are getting divorced, they put on one hell of a performance at Jeff's formal introduction at UL on Thursday afternoon.

As we well know from six years of his stultifying pressers and interviews, an actor Jeff Brohm is not.

In fact, he was slightly choked up when mentioning that his wife had been living in Louisville taking care of her mother, who had been ill and since died.

The Brohms seem like a tight-knit outfit. Perhaps it's all for show, but in any case it certainly doesn't impact us.
