I saw some posts of fear expressed by some posters that Brohm would leap to Louisville the first chance he got to take over as their head coach. That could be true but I doubt it. Ask yourself , why would Brohm want to leave Purdue? the obvious answer would be that we are still a terrible team. if Brohm posts several 2-10, 3-9 and 4-8 seasons, I doubt Louisville would hire him. on the other hand, if Brohm posts several 8-4, 9-3, and 10-2 years, Purdue thus becomes an elite team with no reason for Brohm to want to leave for something better. With the BIG 10 network revenue and the Bowl games and TV coverage, Purdue will become an elite top 10-15 team. Going to Louisville would be a step down.

Look at the salary Purdue just approved for Brohm, and then look at the going rate for other schools. Next year, Brohm has a base salary of $3.3 million. What's not being said very loud, is that he also has incentives that could add another $1.2 million to that package. If Brohm is successful, he could be making $4.5 million a year. That's a lot of compensation to leave on the table to go elsewhere. And if Brohm remains successful, I have to believe his salary will only increase.

yes, Brohm has a tough rebuilding job ahead. But through scheduling, a smart AD could ensure 3 easy non conference games, coupled with 2-3 tough BIG 10 games against UW, Neb and maybe OSU or Michigan each year. Smart scheduling could create an easy 8-4 season or better - look at Minnesota. The rest of the BIG 10 West will always be " winnable" games. Once he gets Purdue football back on track, Brohm could easily have an 8-4 average over the course of the next decade.

and as someone has said, if Brohm is successful and puts Purdue back on the map, a lot of other coaches will be hoping Brohm leaves for Louisville, so they can take over. first things first. lets 's start worrying about winning some games before we worry about Brohm leaving.

well stated, but, I don't think Brohm looks at this as a "tough rebuilding job".

Nor would I, if I were in his shoes.

Is it a challenge? Yes. But certainly a challenge that anyone in his position would relish.

He has a history of incredible accomplishments on the offensive side of the ball, with a defense that has shown considerable improvement.

He has a QB pedigree at the most recognized QB school in all of CFB.

I look at this as a perfect storm.

If he's good enough for Lville to outbid his current contract than Purdue will be in a great position to hire an elite coach. Let's just go bowling and get the damn bucket back where it belongs.
Lets hope we get to 9 wins in one year what a great problem to have since it took 3 to get that many. He'll be welcomed here and asked to stay like Jim Young or Coach Tiller did. We are overdue
