Brady Allen Returns?

Tom Dienhart mentioned he was visiting Ole Miss, and coming back was still in play. He's now deleted the tweet saying he was entering the transfer portal. I think he'd back.
I saw the Tom Dienhart tweet as well. Quite frankly makes a lot of sense that he'd come back. Just as good a chance to become great at Purdue as any place else.

I get the feeling Brady's heart is in West Lala, but his dad seems to have pushed to look at other options.

I don’t have a problem with a kid reexamining their options after a coaching change. If he wants to stay I’m happy with that. And for those who want to say he was buried on the depth chart, I’m pretty sure he was redshirted so that’s not a valid point. Furthermore I think that Burton being our QB2 was more of a bad/weird personnel choice by the previous staff than an indication of the talent of the other guys on the roster.

Probably got tired of going home at holidays for the past couple of years having friends and family ask him whens he going to get his chance.

The past staff had a history of playing the wrong guy to the point you would wonder what other positions were they doing that and nobody noticed.

I was fine with Burton being used situationally behind AOC. To start him was surprising to me during the season and seemed like an intentional tank in the bowl game. Especially after how long he was left out there. Not hating on Burton but I just don’t think he was a P5 QB.

In all fairness, Alaimo didn't look good either. Odd release on his throws. Brady would probably back up Card going into the fall, but Card has a bit of history getting hurt.

card is nice but I would believe it would be an open competition. I don’t see card with a huge advantage over Allen. Card has 1 more season of experience but Burton had 4 more seasons of experience. All Allen needs to do is come back next semester and show what he has in the Spring.

ok. this has the makings of a Sindelar vs Blough battle for starter. it could be fun to watch.

it's sort of like a basketball player entering their name into the draft. they get evaluated, find out the interest and make a decision. they have the opportunity to come back. I suspect Edey will have that option later this year. Will he leave ? or remain for another year? that's his decision, not ours.

You realize there's not going to be a battle/competition for the starting job, right? There's no way Card is coming to Purdue without assurances that he starts...
Without being able to see Wole's post, I will have to agree with him. There's no way Walters promised Card that he would start. I firmly believe it will be a competition.

No coach ever promises a player he will automatically be given the starting position even if he is a portal transfer! Look at how many portal transfers didn’t start for Painter! There will be an equal and fair competition!

Card probably figures he has more experience, therefore a better chance to start. Thing is if he doesn’t do well, anyone who takes his place , won’t have much experience to do much better. Hopefully Allen and Alaimo get a lot of reps in practice

There is an opportunity to start which many other colleges would not offer. If he wants the job he he has to beat out the competition! Let’s remember AOC was not on anybody’s depth chart projected as the starter when he arrived. He beat out two players who both expected to be the starter!

There is no way Card was promised a starting job. He just lucked out at Texas and has two generational QBs with him (Ewers was hyped to be unlikely that he is though)

You just don't do that. I doubt Arch Manning was promised he would start. That's a quick way to alienate the rest of your roster. Gonna have to strongly disagree with you here Pat. And you know how hard it is to agree with the other guy.

Arch Manning wasn't a transfer...

How many top QB transfers have you seen not start at their new school?

The 5 star kid ewers who transferred from OSU to Texas won’t start either!
