I am watching the replay (On Demand) of the 4/30 Game (Court 4), and just the first three possessions in, I'm already impressed by Smith! Here's a run down on his first 10 possessions:
Possession 1:
Teammate shooting FT, missed. Smith stole the rebound, raced to the corner (because his momentum was going that way), turned and knocked down a 3.
Possession 2:
Transitional offense, teammate passed the ball to Smith, who immediately redirected to another teammate for easy bucket. The ball doesn't stick in his hand at all.
Possession 3:
Blow by his defender, got fouled, whistled, but he continued to go up for a dunk. He missed, but I think his lack of athleticism is overrated.
Possession 4:
Transitional offense, Smith driving and dishing to a team for a wide-open 3 (but he missed).
Possession 5:
Baseline inbound. Smith tried to go up for a shot but the ball was knocked loose and stolen.
Possession 6:
Smith not involved in a pick-6 basket.
Possession 7:
Smith drove to the basket, drew two defenders, dish to a teammate for an and-one.
Possession 8:
Smith not involved in it and his team missed a basket. Ball goes the other way and Smith was under the basket to contest (block?) a shot.
Possession 9:
Smith brought up the ball, got harassed on the right wing, threw a skip pass to an open teammate, who missed a semi-contested 3.
Possession 10:
Smith not involved. Ball was stolen.
Bonus:
Since the last possession was too quick, here's the 11th. Smith drove baseline, draw multiple defender, and he passed to a cutting teammate while in mid-air. The teammate was on his way up to score but got tied up.
Conclusion:
I love watching Smith's game. He'll attack the basket and he knows to find his teammates.
