Welcome to this week's “BOILING OVER,” GoldandBlack.com’s weekly Ultimate Ticket information-clearinghouse and analysis column meant for our subscribers and our subscribers only.
We appreciate everyone’s cooperation in helping us keep what is sometimes delicate information confined to this message board.
We certainly don’t want it to come to this, but if there are problems, subscriptions have and will be canceled over this.
We know there are a lot of blogs out there and a lot of you are on Twitter and other message boards, and we don’t want to come off like Darth Vader here, but we would be doing all our subscribers a disservice if weren’t proactive about protecting the value of their subscription. Thanks in advance for your cooperation.
Additionally, we address recruiting in-depth and often without filter in this feature and we do it behind a subscription-protected barrier for a reason, in hopes of avoiding situations where our reporting can impact the recruiting process, which can happen occasionally. So again, we appreciate everyone's cooperation very much.

Here is a list of guys tentatively scheduled to attend. This is by no means a final or official list. Some of these players won't show; some additional ones will.
We'd expect Purdue to make some offers just because there's guys slated to come they watched closely very early in the process this summer, so they might be on the verge anyway.
Among them are Ohio 2018s Robby Carmody and Dwayne Cohill. Carmody is actually from Pittsburgh, but plays for Ohio Basketball Club. These are going to be really highly recruited players in all likelihood, so Purdue may want to just get those early offers out there in hopes of gaining some traction early in their processes.
Carmody will make an extended unofficial visit with Purdue in addition to playing at the camp.
Carte'Are Gordon is a physical beast who already has Illinois, K-State and Mizzou offers and will be a highly, highly recruited player, so that's another situation where Purdue might be inclined to offer now.
Another player in 2018 to watch is Wisconsin's Tyler Herro, a Kyle Guy-type who's already got a handful of offers and seems destined for Big Ten offers before long. He's tough for his size, smart and can really shoot and score, based on what we saw in July.
Damezi Anderson from South Bend - we spaced out and had him incorrectly listed under 2019 on our list last night - played really well in front of Matt Painter in Indy in July, so Purdue very much has its antennas (antennae?) up on him.
Robert Phinisee from McCutcheon probably isn't an offer guy quite yet, but may be down the line for all we know. He is physically advanced, for one thing.
Might be early for 2019 offers, but you never know nowadays.
Fort Wayne's Keion Brooks is earning Deshaun Thomas-like buzz coming into high school. Sydney Curry is also coming now, too. He's got an equally significant rep in Fort Wayne.
Dexter Shouse at L.N. has been a much-talked-about player also and not just because of his move from Terre Haute.
Far as we know, 2018 Kevin Easley Jr. is the one player who's already been offered coming through.
2017: Not aware of Kris Wilkes, Paul Scruggs or Jaren Jackson Jr. planning to attend like they have in years past, but Malik Williams is coming through Sunday for an unofficial visit, his first trip to Purdue since being offered by the Boilermakers.
Those are the big four in Indiana in 2017 and the Boilermakers are in really nice position early with Jackson, in the hunt for Wilkes, and a long-shot for Scruggs, as we see it currently. (BN)

We think Purdue is in great shape there early, but the key term is "early" and Michigan State, Xavier and Indiana are among those who will keep hammering away at him. And IMO he is good enough for his recruitment to go national - his issue has been one of exposure - so the possibility still exists the world could come at him at some point between today and this time a year from now.
But, again, we have good reason to believe Purdue is in very good shape at this stage of the process with both Jackson and Williams, each of them being outstanding frontcourt prospects and versatile enough to play together should the Boilermakers somehow hit the Powerball and get both of them, provided one wouldn't deter the other.
Make no mistake, that remains crazy talk at this point. There is a long, long, long way to go on both players.

We'd expect Purdue to get an official visit from Herard, but that does still remain to be seen. No idea on Banks, who has already reportedly lined up officials to Texas and Vanderbilt, leaving only three more slots. Herard reportedly has visits set to Kansas and Mississippi State.
The next step is in-home visits, which Painter will do in September. He will need to sell those guys on visiting as much/more as/than he'll need to sell them on Purdue, though the two aren't mutually exclusive.
Purdue is also a factor in the recruitment of Texas forward/center Clevon Brown, who has an offer, and ramping things up some with Sagaba Konate, though we don't know if it's gotten to the offer stage with him yet. If Purdue offers, he may not be easy to pry away from West Virginia or Minnesota due to connections with those schools, but he is really talented. (BN)

The junior guard said he is now 205 pounds, up about 10 from last season, and in much better position to incur the physical pounding he says tops opponents' scouting report on him.
Additionally, team sports performance coach Josh Bonohtal said Stephens' speed, surprisingly, has increased to the point it's a strength for him, which you wouldn't expect from a player of Stephens' height, length and gait. According to Bonohtal's metrics - and they put major emphasis on the 20-yard dash - Stephens is running just a tick off what Ronnie Johnson ran at Purdue, and Johnson was fast and an entirely different body type and sort of player.
Teammates have talked about Stephens improving significantly off the dribble and that coupled with the strength, he thinks, can go a long way toward patching up some areas where defenders have been able to exploit him. (BN)

Hope to get some clarity on Collin Miller's situation in recruiting.
As of now, we wouldn't consider him committed based on what we've learned but would like to hear it from him before removing him from Purdue's list.
Miller, to our knowledge, has not formally "decommitted" from Purdue after wiping away all mention of his commitment from his social media while continuing to solicit interest from other schools. But there is certainly all sorts of smoke here painting the picture of Miller being an uncommitted player. Can this still all work out in the end for Purdue? Sure, maybe.
But like we've told you, Miller has continued to be recruited by Indiana - and visited there last weekend, per a source - and Louisville and clearly open to being recruited.
