Welcome to this week's “BOILING OVER,” GoldandBlack.com’s weekly information-clearinghouse and analysis column meant for our site members and site members only. We appreciate everyone’s cooperation in helping us keep what is sometimes delicate or proprietary information confined to this message board. This feature allows us to be more flexible in our reporting, to our readers' benefit, and we lose that ability if we can't keep this feature secure and the value of our site's membership at its peak. Additionally, we address recruiting and hiring processes in-depth and often without filter in this feature and we do it behind a subscription-protected barrier for a reason, in hopes of avoiding situations where our reporting can impact the recruiting process, which can happen occasionally.
So again, we appreciate everyone's cooperation very much. We know there are a lot of aggregator blogs out there, and a lot of you are on Twitter and other message boards. We don’t want to come off like Darth Vader (before he turned good at the end of "Return of the Jedi" of course) here, but we would be doing all our subscribers a disservice if weren’t proactive about protecting the value of their membership.
PURDUE FOOTBALL RECRUITING
The first weekend in June is going to be huge for official visits for Purdue, as they always try to do that first weekend.
Some visitors for that weekend we have confirmed (and there will be many more).
Purdue's QB commitment will be in right away. Make no mistake: Purdue's going to have to fight to keep this guy. He just got offered by Oregon among the others who haven't and won't stop recruiting him.
Purdue's linebacker/safety commitment has become a really active recruiter for the Boilermaker program in Indy. That's the role he'll bring to campus during this weekend.
Berglund's teammate at Carmel is a Purdue priority and Purdue's the only visit he's scheduled thus far. He would seem like a commitment possibility.
One of Purdue's many live running back targets.
One of Purdue's real defensive priorities and In-state priorities, the linebacker prospect also has offers from Virginia Tech, Nebraska, Iowa State and others. Purdue's got a chance here, we think, and he's one of the guys Berglund has really tried to help with.
There will be more that come In that first weekend, but that's what we have right now, from checking In with a bunch of players.
Here are some others who say they play to visit in June, and keep in mind, this is not a complete list, just what we have right now.
Haven't heard back from Thieneman yet, but he's obviously going to visit and would make a lot of sense to be part of that first weekend.
Conyer reiterated that he's definitely taking an official to Purdue. He's down to them, Kentucky and Tennessee. He'll commit July 3. Don't like Purdue's chances there, but he's going to visit.
He has not scheduled his visit, but we'd expect him to visit.
He and teammate Dickson Agu (linebacker) say they're working on dates.
he's coming the second weekend in June.

He's scheduled for the last weekend in June, he told us. (BN)
PURDUE FOOTBALL RECRUITING
• Purdue has not yet offered Penn State defensive tackle transfer Cole Brevard after he visited on Friday, but still may as things become clearer over what the roster will look like once the semester ends, we think.
Duke is also very involved with Brevard.
• Purdue has Chicagoland placekicker Owen Valek scheduled to kick for them at camp June 5 after he unofficially visited in April. He'd seem like a guy who's a possibility if they decide to scholarship a kicker in this class. We'll see. (BN)
PURDUE BASKETBALL
Spike Albrecht is leaving his position as a graduate assistant on Purdue's staff for a job with SalesForce, opening a G.A. spot alongside Tommy Luce, who should be returning.
An obvious choice would be outgoing senior Jared Wulbrun, who transferred to Purdue a few years ago as a walk-on specifically to try to break into coaching. His father, Jeff, is the head coach at Denver. (BN)
PURDUE BASKETBALL RECRUITING
Purdue's working to get St. Bonaventure transfer Kyle Lofton on campus for a visit, and other schools involved with Lofton believe the Boilermakers could be a real factor for him.
Rutgers just had him in for a visit, and him being a New Jersey native, they could be a real player here, too, but they do have Paul Mulcahy back at point guard, even if he's a bit non-traditional as a point guard.
Definitely someone to watch here as Purdue continues to play the field looking for a transfer point guard to go along with Braden Smith next season.
Additionally, there are a bunch of guards who are In both the NBA draft and the transfer portal, so when NBA decisions get made and a bunch of these guys pull out, there's going to be some more activity on this front If Purdue hasn't filled Its vacancy by then.
A couple notables there would be Lofton, Texas' Courtney Ramey, Nevada's Grant Sherfield, Chattanooga's Malachi Smith. Purdue's actively recruiting some of these guys, who were all in the portal prior to the deadline to be eligible for next season.
Shouldn't glance right over Tyrese Hunter, either. He's still out there, as well, and even though the NIL issue is still a thing, we do think Purdue does really have his attention and should be considered a possibility.
Kansas has always loomed large there, as well, and Louisville probably does, too, now, but we wouldn't totally write him off. He is generally believed to be a one-and-done likelihood wherever he goes, so the clear path to a big-time role on a good team, with a potential NBA payday just months away, could make Purdue a logical pick. We'd still be a bit surprised if Purdue got him, but wouldn't rule them out yet. (BN)
PURDUE BASKETBALL RECRUITING
Purdue has Brownsburg Class of 2024 wing Kanon Catchings lined up for an unofficial visit right at the start of June. That screams "offer," but we'll see.
Catchings has really become a nice prospect and is clearly just scratching the surface of what he can be. Even If he plateaued right now, which he won't, his shooting ability alone would seem to us to make him worth a shot.
Illinois and Indiana have been two others very active In his recruiting, but this is also a player who will have a lot more Interest once people see him more, which they will — and have started to — because of Jalen Haralson being on his team. Trent Sisley, too.
Sisley, by the way, will be at Purdue in June when his Heritage Hills team plays at Purdue's team camp. (BN)
PURDUE BASKETBALL
Expect Davidson to be part of Purdue basketball's non-conference schedule this season.
Foster Loyer vs. Fletcher Loyer. (BN)
