Welcome to this week's “BOILING OVER,” GoldandBlack.com’s weekly information-clearinghouse and analysis column meant for our site members and site members only. We appreciate everyone’s cooperation in helping us keep what is sometimes delicate or proprietary information confined to this message board. This feature allows us to be more flexible in our reporting, to our readers' benefit, and we lose that ability if we can't keep this feature secure and the value of our site's membership at its peak. Additionally, we address recruiting and hiring processes in-depth and often without filter in this feature and we do it behind a subscription-protected barrier for a reason, in hopes of avoiding situations where our reporting can impact the recruiting process, which can happen occasionally.

So again, we appreciate everyone's cooperation very much.We know there are a lot of aggregator blogs out there, and a lot of you are on Twitter and other message boards. We don’t want to come off like Darth Vader (before he turned good at the end of "Return of the Jedi" of course) here, but we would be doing all our subscribers a disservice if weren’t proactive about protecting the value of their membership.

PURDUE BASKETBALL RECRUITING
So this is going to be an eventful update so prepare to get a lot thrown at you at once.

Following Camden Heide's commitment to Purdue, I think you're about to see a bit of a reset, as Purdue has three of its four or more likely five scholarships spoken for in 2022 and some things are happening organically that's affecting the landscape.

For one thing, Purdue is out on guard Justice Williams, who's called off his official visit. His four remaining official visits would be LSU, Auburn, Connecticut and Memphis, so the sore thumb sticking out on his previous list is no more. Always had to suspend disbelief on that one anyway.

For another, Josh Dix's official visit is off, too. Heide essentially took his spot, so Purdue is withdrawing from the pursuit of the Omaha area guard (man, do I have to choose my words carefully on him to not step in it double-entendre-wise).

For another, Seth Trimble never formalized his official visit, so we assume Purdue's on the outside looking in there. Didn't realize until now that he's former North Carolina player JP Tokoto's brother. The Tar Heels just offered amidst Trimble blowing up.

Heide's commitment likely takes Ty Rodgers, who just officially visited, off the frontburner for Purdue, though you never say never. Where Purdue would even stand with him, we don't know.

That brings June down to two essentially: Kebba Njie and Jalen Washington.

Tarris Reed, who just officially visit also (and has not replied to us), also, but he's likely not deciding any time soon. Certainly not before July.

Now, on that front — the post landscape) — Njie's official visit will be postponed. He was supposed to be at Purdue this weekend.

Some conflicts have apparently come up on Purdue's part that would have taken away from a weekend that was already going to be divided by the Friday-through-Sunday evaluation period. Not sure when Njie will visit now, but I'm sure it'll happen in June.

As for Washington, we're still not aware of him cementing a visit date for this month, but we'll ask him again on Saturday. Last week, he told us he is definitely going to visit, but did not commit to it being in June. Purdue's put itself in a good spot to this point with Washington, but is gonna have to weather a deluge of other people coming at him now and the requisite drama that sometimes comes with players of this caliber. Not sure how else to put it.

Look for Purdue to spend this June and July locking into Njie and Washington but also expanding its recruiting board even more. (BN)

PURDUE BASKETBALL RECRUITING
We do not anticipate the process being a long, drawn-out one for Myles Colvin, who could actually move toward a decision very soon. Not much suspense there if he does.

The biggest fish to reach out to him on Wednesday, other than Purdue, was Virginia. Butler, too. A Butler offer will probably be a formality this summer, I'd think.

May not matter.

Here's some new video on Colvin from Tuesday night's game against Cathedral.

• Purdue did have Ohio 2023 guard Lawrent Rice on campus Monday. Micah Shrewsberry recruited him very early and put Purdue in a solid spot, but we'll see what the test of time does there. It's long been believed Ohio State may have right of first refusal on that one, but he's also starting to get a bunch of offers, Xavier included.

Dravyn Gibbs-Lawhorn raved about his recent unofficial visit to Purdue to those in his circle, we're told.

Xavier Booker spoke highly of his Purdue visit and all that the other night, but he's in the middle of a swing of visits where he's going to get offered by everyone who sees him. We'll see where Purdue fits in there. Booker may project as a Thon Maker sort of forward at this time, and we'd guarantee you Purdue (and other colleges) would want to make a center out of him, as they should.

Louisville and Ohio State have offered this summer already, among others. If Indiana hasn't already, it will.

Sam Orme from Carmel is visiting Purdue Friday. He's a long, tall shooter in the Sean McDermott mold and a player that seems like one Purdue ought to be really interested in.

Keep in mind that as of right now, Purdue has one scholarship for 2023 and Colvin will probably take it. They don't have to sign five in 2022 but have at least been trying to. (BN)

PURDUE FOOTBALL RECRUITING
Some significant news breaking this morning (or at least breaking to us, as we're at the mercy of kids' responsiveness in the middle of visit season): After unofficially visiting Purdue and working out for the coaches last week and getting offered, Texas defensive lineman JP Deeter has added his name to the list of next weekend's official visitors.

He's going to commit at the start of July and Purdue is the only official visit he's scheduled, so go ahead and connect the dots there.

Deeter said that when Marty Biagi reached out and got Purdue involved, he canceled plans to camp at Texas and Baylor in order to make the nearly eight-hour drive north to visit. He did make unofficial visits to Arkansas State and Texas Tech, but no other officials.

"I just loved everything at Purdue," Deeter said.

Next weekend's visit slate should be significant. (BN)

PURDUE FOOTBALL RECRUITING

There are no football visits happening this weekend, so Purdue's camp on the 23rd may be the next date of significance on that front.

That day, Michigan corner Tyler Bivens will be on campus, but not for camp. Just for a visit. He claims a Purdue offer, Purdue has watched him closely at camps this spring and we'll see what happens on the visit. Purdue remains his lone P5 offer at the moment, and a shoulder issue kept him out of one-on-ones at this past weekend's Megacamp at the University of Indianapolis, so none of the other Big Ten coaches present saw him do any more than drills.

Offensive lineman Shane Keenan will be at Purdue that day, too, and he's been expecting an offer. What Cross Watson's commitment means for him, we don't know. With this being a small class and scholarships being allotted for the transfer scene, we're not sure how many positions are going to carry multiple signees when all is said and done and Purdue now has an offensive tackle.

Here's a quick review on some commitment possibilities and their ETDs (estimate time of decision). These are just guys where we think Purdue might be a clear leader on right now. (Yes, they have a good chance at Joe Strickland, but we're not calling them the leader at this point, not because they're not, but because we can't say that with great confidence.)

Omonode is taking some long-scheduled visits right now. We think he essentially has a Purdue offer at this point, and the formal offer/commitment — should he decide on it — would essentially be the same thing. Now, what this means for Deeter, or what Deeter would mean for Omonode, we don't know, but we do know D-tackle is a sore spot right now and if there's one position this staff would over-recruit right now, this might be it.

The interior offensive lineman will visit at the end of the month, then announce in early July. All signs would seem to point to Purdue here. Jeff Brohm and his father, Roman, are tight.

He still has visits to take, but Purdue's track record getting the receivers it wants is pretty solid. We'd expect a decision around the end of the month.

The defensive tackle just visited and will announce a decision July 2. No real reason to think Purdue's out in front as he still has visits to IU and Baylor to take, but he will decide quickly once June closes.

Note: There are guys we're sort of In the dark on, because they've not been responsive. Running back/corner Terence Thomas and linebacker Kalib Perry among them.

Essentially down to Virginia Tech and Purdue and a decision will come soon. This would be a pretty significant one for Purdue.

The Louisiana linebacker loved Purdue and was just going to also visit Arizona State before deciding. Arizona State is presently being investigated by the NCAA. What bearing that might have, if any, we don't know.

Haven't been able to reach him but the belief there is that he's down to Purdue and Boston College.

• Canada athlete Rhyland Kelly has told folks that he'll officially visit Purdue next weekend.
