Boilers beat IU by double digits and drop in spot in Bracketology. Now a 5 seed.

I think Palm is more of predictor of seeding. But right now, PU could lose to NW, or half the teams above them could lose and PU move up.

I think if they win this weekend, and then win the BTT, they could be seeded as high as a 2 or 3 depending on a lot of variables.

JMO.....ship has long sailed on any 2-seed, and a ton of bat-$%^ crazy stuff would have to happen for any 3-seed after the UM loss.

I think the Boilers are locked in as a 4 or 5, depending upon Sunday and the BTT results. There are just no opportunities to play high RPI teams.....good teams.....good wins.....but won't improve seed stock.

Purdue needs to play and beat Minnesota (RPI 17) in order to get up to a 3 seed.

We won't move up to a 3 without winning the BTT and other teams losing ahead of us to lesser opponents. For now I'd rather just lock in a 4 seed and focus on staying healthy and the ncaa tourney.

Am I the only one on here who remembers where we were rated last year when we got a 6 seed?

For those playing at home, it was higher than this year by every metric...

Are people expecting the committee to make it up to us this year for some reason? Did I miss a clue in the "16 reveal preview" that excluded a top 10 Wisconsin team you guys think selection Sunday will be good to us?

The seeds we've received the last two years tells me we are looking at a 6/7 seed right now and the BTT won't matter.

Purdue got a 5 seed last year and last year's team wasn't better in every metric.

I guess so, considering we weren't a 6 seed last year.

As others have pointed out, we were a 5 seed. However, while it makes sense to you that we got 'screwed' with seeding, it may be more of a biased fan perception than anything.

Last year, we had a nice run to the BTT Championship game. I think a lot of our fans on here and such thought we were just on a roll, we should be surging, etc. The reality is - we beat a crappy team and a lower-quality tournament team to make the championship. And this is exactly the situation we're seeing this year - even if Purdue were to make a deep run and/or win the BTT - they aren't going to beat anyone meaningful on the way.

True, when by definition, "anyone meaningful" is Nova or an ACC team. This is the problem with the rankings and seedings, the conferences' relative strengths were locked in 2 months ago on the basis of a limited number of inter-conference games. So now, Golden State could be in the B1G but couldn't improve to a 3 seed since they would have no chance to beat anyone "meaningful." Meanwhile, the top 4 in the ACC can beat each other up without falling in terms of NCAA seeding.

It's the "lobster pot" metaphor. And to climb out of the pot, you need a lobster on the lip, so you can climb its back, otherwise all the lobsters boil. It's a poor way to rank and seed teams.

We win out and wit the BIG tournament..........3 seed is a lock! No way they keep Big conf and tourney champ from a 3 being seed...........Quite a few teams ahead of us will be losing in their Conf Tournaments.............."JUST WIN BABY".................and the rest will take care of its self......

This is exactly correct

I think we get a 3 seed if we win out. Just my opinion though

Considering I just looked at Lunardi's bracket and saw that UCLA, the current #3 team in the AP Poll, was a 3 seed....I don't really like our chances. Purdue definitely needs some help and got some with Florida and Butler losing. If Duke gets dropped by UNC and Purdue plays up to its' potential tomorrow (which would be a first in about 2 weeks), they may move up in the projection brackets from guys like Lunardi and Palm.

If Purdue beats NU and then gets a chance at UM, that would give Purdue a chance for 2 more RPI Top 50 wins before the semi final against Minnesota. This would give Purdue a chance at another top 50 RPI win and could drive Purdue's RPI down in to the middle teens (currently at 20). If that happens, Purdue will likely end up with a 3 seed no matter the result of the BTT. At that point I think the bracket will be finalized and a loss to Maryland in D.C. wouldn't be a bad loss.

I think Purdue could reach the lowest 3 seed and plays in Milwaukee as their ceiling for rankings. If Purdue loses to NU and gets beat in their first round game in the BTT, Purdue probably drops to the lowest 5 seed and draws the #1 4 seed in the second round.
