Boilermakers drop fourth straight (link)

Versy said they played hard and battled. They did, An effort like this would have beaten Wisconsin.
But the turnovers killed this team, especially in the first half.
Here is what I see. Coach V has them running whenever they can and they do not have the ability to do that. Time and time again, particularly in the first half, they threw the ball way or forced quick, bad shots in transition. It looks that they are much better in the half court.
This team will not win much this year if they can't cut down the tos and I think unless they stop running at will they won't do that.
This team just seems really lost. They also seem to have an uncanny ability to get close and then fall right back down the hole again. Not very fun to watch.

I have been a CSV supporter and mostly blamed our turnover problems on players. However, her substitution patterns over the past several years indicate she is not that concerned about them. Until she is concerned about turnovers, the players will not be either.

Too many games to count have been lost in recent memory that could be attributable to just that one statistic.

I was able to see the rerun after getting home late tonight. Overall, the Boilers looked greatly improved over the Wisconsin game and I agree, that had they shown the effort that they did tonight against the Badgers, they probably would have won that game. Their defense, especially, looked improved.

You also mentioned turnovers. The most disconcerting thing about them was that almost every one was unforced. Also agree, that it's nice to see them pushing the ball up the court, but when they don't have numbers, they must pull it back and set up their offense. Had they done that, they might have added 15-16 points and could have won.

They're in a very tough part of their schedule and are having to play without one of their best players - Bridget Perry.

It's too bad that Bays doesn't have more help. She just might be one of Purdue's all time best players.
