The last couple of games I have noticed something new about Biggie's reaction to being called for a foul. It is obvious that he is extremely upset. I think it started around the time of the MSU game but not sure about that. But I am sure that it is a much more extreme reaction than previously. Not sure what could be going on.

He probably just doesn't want Purdue to lose when it matters most, like most of us.

He thought he was getting the over the back call on Wagner instead of Wagner shooting FTs when Wagner went up for the rebound...same look he gave when he knew Thomas Bryant had charged..neither went his way

So was that his 3rd time he fouled out on a very very questionable call in a close game? @Maryland @IU and Michigan today?

I think you are right. Not sure what he is doing that is leading to fouling out but hopefully it will be addressed by coaches. Maybe this game and the time they have till NCAA tournament begins will allow them to address some of these issues that have been exposed in the past few games.

You reminded me about that over the back call. That was an awful call. Wagner mugged him. Probably came after Bielien complained to the refs and got the technical - I can't recall.

IIRC, CS didn't have any fouls in the first half. All the more surprising then.

I have noticed this too. Probably the immense amount of pressure on the kid. Every game is huge for the guys future at this point. basically everything he had busted his butt for since 8th grade is on the line constantly. I cant really imagine that feeling

You only get to enjoy college once in life, wonder if Caleb is thinking of another possible season in college? Money is tempting, but if he is enjoying the experience, why leave a team that you enjoy!

He had maybe 1 foul (or 0) with like 13 or 14 minutes left. I remember looking up at the scoreboard and got frustrated that while he doesn't get as aggressive defensively to stay out of foul trouble, having 0 or 1 with 12 minutes left in the game means he can be a bit better defensively. That sure as hell backfired! lol

No, no, no. This is not acceptable reasoning - he's a sophomore in college. If he's lashing out because he's not dominating and frustrated that he's not going to be an NBA draft darling as a sophomore, then that's a problem. I don't necessarily think that's the case, but he hasn't seemed himself to me in a little while (and I've pointed it out and been hard on him lately - and have been criticized on this forum for doing so).

But he has not been playing like the POY - Big Ten or National- on a consistent level, particularly on the offensive end (although he's not a good defender - he's a great rebounder). The guy was MIA in the second half on offense, is starting to shoot and not make 3s (maybe he's starting to hit a wall, but he hasn't been making 3s lately), and was only 5-13 yesterday.

And to add to that.....he is not a dominating presence on the court at crunch time!!! I remember "BIG DOG" use to take over games at crunch time!! Hope he comes back for one more year..He still has a lot to work on.......

It for sure came after the technical. I think his offensive charge was an even worse call which happened right after the over the back call.

This is what I've been saying all season. I love the Big Dog comparison because Glenn struggled with the same things his soph year... Turnovers, inconsistent play, and he tried to let his teammates take over rather than do it himself. In a year, I think Caleb could dominate, yesterday he couldn't get a shot over Wilson.

Big Dog was twice the athlete adn could create his on shot inside and outside. I admire the self made player Biggie is, but probably every team in the Big and most teams in D1 have a better athlete than Biggie. Biggie will have to go this year I expect just because I doubt he is capable of getting the numbers he did this year, next year...and not sure what is ceiling is although limited due to his athleticism. Course he did make huge strides this year...is it possible to make an athletic improvement next year? Now, if that could happen...who knows?

Comparing Big Dog to Biggie was never fair. Glenn was the best player in the country back when players didn't leave after a single year of college. He was also a Junior. Biggie is 19 years old. Biggie is a terrific player but outside of just referring to great Purdue players of the past and present they should not be compared.

I would say that when Michigan fans come over here and say they hate seeing Biggie foul out on bogus calls it pretty much explains it....lol! Not all of course, but at least 2 yesterday and the last one was a killer. It must be really difficult getting mauled by the other team on a regular basis and not getting the calls. I think we all saw a change in how the game was called after Beleine's tech yesterday.

Others have said this but comparing him to Robinson is ridiculous and unfair.

To my point, I haven't noticed this "lashing out" to any detrimental level. emotion is not always a bad thing. also, I'm not saying he doesn't want purdue to win primarily, I have no reason to think otherwise. That's enough pressure right there.

Add in the fact that he's a future professional with limited athleticism that needs to be super efficient to overachieve and that's immense. he's a 19 year old human being with a family relying on him so I don't buy "he shouldn't think about it."

I understand staying in the moment but this isn't just a game to him, it's real life and if it is in the back of his mind somewhere it's completely justified to me.

I believe we would all be better off to consider other people's circumstances a bit. If you are someone who can totally compartmentalize every aspect of your life congratulations but more likely you might want to slide off your high horse.

I wish he was slightly better too but he's improved his passing and making less mistakes. There's even games like yesterday when I think haas is a better matchup and should be in but biggie is held to a crazy standard by some. He isn't and will never be big dog. (Sorry for the rant, I'm still emotional myself after the loss)
