... if Purdue shows him 2 wins in the NCAA tourney/they are competitive for a championship this season, & even [potentially] better next season. I think Caleb returns if Purdue wins [at least] it's first 2 NCAA games, making it to the Sweet 16. Give him a [legit] reason to return next season/shot at a national title, & he may reward his team & university.

I really don't think it's likely.

I think the only thing that keeps him here is the NBA telling him he needs more work. Next year we will have a ton of seniors though, maybe biggie has a great off the court relationship with them and wants to stay one more year before leaving. This is pure speculation of course.

But what we know for sure is that Biggie and Barnes treat this solely as a business venture and he will go as long as Biggie has a shot of getting drafted.

He has no logical reason to say if the NBA guys say he will be drafted. He won't stay for emotional reasons, even if he has them.

"... a business venture ..." Ok, Biggie at 6.8 1/2" - 6.9" will [probably] be playing the 3/SF if drafted by an NBA team next season. Scouts will tell Biggie he needs to work on facing the basket, being able to drive with either hand inside/in the lane & finishing near the basket with either hand. They will tell him he needs to be able to put the ball on the floor with his off hand better, especially near the basket [& without turning it over or getting his pocket picked]. Being the B1G POY doesn't necessarily equate to being ready for the NBA. Many thought A. J. was ready for the NBA last year. Biggie is now better than A. J. was at this time last year, but Biggie isn't 7" tall. Fact is, if Biggie stays an additional year, he will [probably] be a higher draft pick next year, & a better, more refined/NBA ready player. Biggie is not ready for the NBA now, & staying one more year will only help him in more ways than he knows. If he's worried about getting injured, he can get insurance to cover that. ***If I were Biggie, [with his current skills/skill level] I'd stay one more year if Purdue proved to me they were [Sweet 16] close to a national championship this season. We shall see.

Wishful thinking! It would be awesome if he did, but I think he has a decent chance of getting drafted late in the first round, so I don't see it happening. He would probably improve even more and maybe get drafted even higher with another year, but unless you know something I don't, I just don't see it happening. I wish I were wrong, but I don't think so.

If Biggie stays, there is an excellent chance his stock goes down. Like 90+%

I think teams are instead saying, look how many more shots my team will get with those rebounds. Look how he can shoot from beyond the arc. Saying you'd stay is just you wishing he'd stay. You'd be gone, I'd be gone, nobody would stay.

Unless he is a risky 2nd round pick, I think he is out. If he is projected solidly in the late 1st round, I say he has to go... guaranteed money. If he is late first, early second, that is a heck of a risk.

He gave our school and this team more than I expected in a short time. He has worked his ass off for the opportunity to get drafted. I would not expect him back, and will be happy for him when he leaves.

Exactamundo. Gave more than expected spot on. We are a better for the 2 years he was here, go grab some financial security.

Loved watching Biggie play....and looking forward seeing him in this year's tournament still....he's represented the University very well and presented an outstanding example for many, not just athletes....he's also brought a new light to the program and CMP, reflecting well. I wish him the best in whatever he chooses to do and for the rest of his basketball career and beyond.

Part of us would love to see him return......but as others have stated....

He Gone.

I won't argue with him if he does but nothing leading up to this point makes me believe that would even be under consideration. If he has played himself into being a first round pick I'd absolutely advise him, or anyone else, to go. There are a few minor things he could improve upon but he can get paid while he works on those things and if anything last offseason showed the NBA is that he is more than willing to work to improve. I don't think he'll be the type to lose that motivation as soon as he cashes his first paycheck. I'd expect another few years of significant improvement whether it be in college or the NBA. If he ultimately can't succeed in the NBA it won't be for lack of effort.

difference is, in the nba, he can get paid while he's "refining" himself.

There is little "risky" about picking Biggie in this draft, but [where he is currently projected to be picked] who/which team is he going to start on?

Life is about more than money. He'll now have at least 2 more chances at being [the main] part of an NCAA championship. In the NBA next season, he probably doesn't start & ends up sitting more than playing. Health insurance can be bought to insure/protect him against the possibility of getting seriously injured. I don't pretend to know Biggie, [as so many others think they do, like a book] but many have him out the door & not thinking of the possibilities of staying for something he'll never get another chance at if he leaves now. Life > $$$

He isn't going to stay. Painter is actively recruiting for his scholarship and has been since last year. And...the top picks are almost always freshmen and foreign players. Next year will likely not be any different.

this is crazy talk. literally crazy. His life can be whatever he wants it to be after a few years in the league. Even on a great college team, his chances of winning a championship are close to zero.
