I don't remember the exact timing, but I believe he didn't get his first foul until the last 10 minutes of the game. That allowed him to be very aggressive and get three blocked shots that he would never have had if he was in foul trouble. It allowed us to see what Biggie is actually capable of defensively, which is a shame, because it won't happen again.

If only he wasn't so integral to our offense, he could more aggressive like that, at least early. Obviously it's a trade off. He's very good offensively, and we need that. But we will see how things play out.

Interesting points....I didn't recall when and looking at the box score, it shows CS didn't pick up a foul at all.....so all the better. VE didn't have one either. If that could somehow be duplicated against Iowa State, I'd say the Boilers would be in pretty good shape.

Regardless, it was good to see Biggie patrol the paint in the last few minutes to snuff out any thoughts of a Vermont comeback.

Interesting. Perhaps I mis-attributed a foul to him.

What was interesting about last night is that our guards had tons of calls against them. Carsen and Cline each had 4. But very few fouls called against our bigs. Maybe that was because of our size advantage. Didn't need to foul against their bigs. Who knows?

I was at the game and saw Ole' layups to avoid fouls, weak backside defense and so so rebounding in the 1st half. Improved both those areas in the 2nd half, but our guards let their guards get 3-4 long pass layups. Thankfully, we pulled away.
I hope we have the moxie to put a complete game in to step past ISU. BTW, their fans outnumbered Purdue fans overall by the eyeball test looking around mid-way thru the 2nd half on. Somebody on this board indicated we are now on house money. Should we get a win tomorrow night and find a way to beat Kansas, then it becomes house money. We're expected to be in the Sweet 16 by most prognosticators.

I don't think "most prognosticators" have picked us. A 4/5 game is basically a draw.

I mean, kind of? Swanigan has NEVER been that good defensively, whether he's aggressive or not. The fact that he swatted away a few shots last night against an undersized team....doesn't really "tell" too much.

However, one thing you pointed out has become somewhat of a trend. He did not have any fouls well into the Michigan game either - and ended up fouling out.

Overall with Swanigan, I don't think he's really played like an All-American lately. He should have feasted against Vermont, but didn't really. And for some reason lately he's decided he's going to shoot as many 3s as our guards - even when he has a major advantage inside.
