Best start in 28 years

Obviously I have supported this team in times of struggle this season, but stats like these don't mean much to me. You don't magically get a record like this being average by any means, but it also can be very reflective of scheduling quirks. Take IU for example - they're 6-0, yet have only played decent middle of the pack teams at home and their 3 road games have been against teams with a combined record of 24-35. That's not taking anything away from them because as we've seen this year, any way is a good win. But if their schedule just happened to include road games against an Iowa or Michigan State, etc., they'd probably have a loss. Doesn't mean they aren't as good or anything - just a matter of scheduling.

Purdue's start to their schedule is certainly not easy, but I don't think it's our toughest start either.

Don't disagree with your points, scheduling has an impact on it. But can't take anything away either (I know you aren't) as having this type of start even with some cupcakes is big deal because we've lost games against cupcakes in the past.

Ultimately ... just win ;)

I hope this is the last time I wait 28 years for a 17-3 record. Another 28 years and I'm most likely dead):

We are losing in Bloomington
I take Purdue on a neutral court and at Purdue, but down there where the fans run out and try to guard you make it very difficult to win. 1) Crean will be coaching and so it is not as bad as it could be. 2) Crean will win as large as he can. 3) ref interpretation of inside and outside play will be important. Unless IU gets into the meat of their schedule and has a slide I expect them to be a slight favorite down there

IU is playing much different....and better...... basketball than just a few weeks ago. Going to be a tough putt to win in Bloomington.

I'm not so worried about IU. They still have to play @Michigan, and @MSU...and Iowa before we square off with them. Then they still have tough games after that...so. I think so far the average of the schedule for them is barely over .500. I don't think we can really decide how good or bad they are. A favorable schedule makes them look scary.

I've watched their games lately. They are getting scary, regardless of who they are playing. Halfcourt defense is much better, they are much more patient in the halfcourt offense. They are much less dependent on the three although they are still shooting well from behind the arc. I hate it but this is not the same team that looked ugly early.

Bilas was asked during MSU game who was the best team in Big. He says depends what you mean? Who will win the league or who is best? He said, The unbalanced schedule plays into who may win the league. Hinting IU with their start could win.

He said Maryland and MSU are his top two with Iowa right there ( probably ticked off Iowa fans as they pounded MSU twice).

The play by play guy said what about Purdue? And he said something like oh yeah they have a good team.
