Bench Hill and Davis

All this Taylor talk is making my head spin. Realize he has potential but is not a developed talent yet. Also realize his magical triple double came against possibly the worst team in the country playing a tired midget lineup in mop up time. Not like he did it against Iowa in the first half.

Davis' minutes have to be cut. He is killing us on offense. You can't start a 1 and 2 guard together who can't shoot. PJ and Dakota should get starters minutes at the one and two the rest of the way.

I totally agree - PJ and Dakota need to start over Ray and Hill. Have Ray come off the bench to D someone up when they start to get going. We need threats out there and dammit with Hill...he makes these silly turnovers or drives to the basket and when the ref calls him for something - he looks around like it was the worst call ever. He has been careless with a lot of of the PG duties. Ray can't play like he did before the knee injury. It's time for him to come off the bench. Even his D has been ok, not great and there is no offense. Something has to change for this team to do some damage in the B1G tourney and the NCAA tourney.

I think it is possible that the offensive improvement in this suggestion may exceed the defensive liability for many situations, but the players are not getting enough separation to be confident about anything. I do think Dakota may be the best post feeder on the team and against certain teams PJ is better at spreading the floor...AND maybe learned he can't take it to the rim in many cases as he showed an in-between jumper last game... :)

Davis held Jok below his average and well below the points he had been getting in recent games. So I am not sure he isn't still playing pretty well defensively.

Having said that. We do need him to average doubel figures on offense and to take open shots when he has rhen and to be aggressive to the rim.

We are still playing pretty good although not as consistent as needed.

My main concern would be when the heart we played with last year in conference will return?

Still a very dangerous team and I feel pretty good about our chances in the tourney. Isn't that what most people have been wanting anyway?

Time to start another winning streak so we have momentum going into the Maryland game.

Well, don't just look at the Iowa game vs Jok - look at all the games back since Ray returned from injury. It's not the same...

Yeah he's not the same. But outside of Utoff, I am not sure anyone has went off on him.
He struggles fighting through multiple screens. But maybe, just maybe teams are game planning around his defense and trying to take him out of his game.

I'm a huge Mathias fan but he was not good yesterday. In general I'd like to see him play more and Swanigan less though. I also don't think Hill is bad. I would continue to platoon him and PJ and ride the hot hand there. Davis has been struggling and I'd be fine with cutting his minutes some as/if he continues to struggle. I'm not completely on board with giving Taylor a boatload of meaningful minutes just yet but I don't think it would hurt to play him a bit in our regular rotation and see how he does in legitimate minutes (the second half of the Rutgers game was just throw-away time so I don't put any stock in that).

Biggie averages one rebound less then a double double.
His defense and decision making and turnovers are improving.
He needs to continue to get the minutes he gets. He looks slow at times but outside of Edwards, he is our second best player who can make his own shot.

I don't know what to say other than I disagree. Other than rebounding I can't tell you a single thing he does really well. He certainly deserves minutes but I wouldn't give him anywhere near the most on the team. If he weren't Painter's prized five-star recruit he would've become more acquainted with the bench awhile back and my guess is that would accelerate his learning curve on defense and taking care of the basketball more than letting him continue to play through the same mistakes over and over.

I have no issue with disagreement. However he has cut his turnovers down and gives us points we desperately need that our seniors haven't been able to give in a regular basis.
The more he plays, the better he gets.
We will need him in April.
