How about we credit the Hawkeyes with playing a great game, and stop attempting to find scape goats on our own team?Play Taylor, Thompson and Mathias
I think it is possible that the offensive improvement in this suggestion may exceed the defensive liability for many situations, but the players are not getting enough separation to be confident about anything. I do think Dakota may be the best post feeder on the team and against certain teams PJ is better at spreading the floor...AND maybe learned he can't take it to the rim in many cases as he showed an in-between jumper last game...I totally agree - PJ and Dakota need to start over Ray and Hill. Have Ray come off the bench to D someone up when they start to get going. We need threats out there and dammit with Hill...he makes these silly turnovers or drives to the basket and when the ref calls him for something - he looks around like it was the worst call ever. He has been careless with a lot of of the PG duties. Ray can't play like he did before the knee injury. It's time for him to come off the bench. Even his D has been ok, not great and there is no offense. Something has to change for this team to do some damage in the B1G tourney and the NCAA tourney.
Yeah he's not the same. But outside of Utoff, I am not sure anyone has went off on him.Well, don't just look at the Iowa game vs Jok - look at all the games back since Ray returned from injury. It's not the same...
Biggie averages one rebound less then a double double.I'm a huge Mathias fan but he was not good yesterday. In general I'd like to see him play more and Swanigan less though. I also don't think Hill is bad. I would continue to platoon him and PJ and ride the hot hand there. Davis has been struggling and I'd be fine with cutting his minutes some as/if he continues to struggle. I'm not completely on board with giving Taylor a boatload of meaningful minutes just yet but I don't think it would hurt to play him a bit in our regular rotation and see how he does in legitimate minutes (the second half of the Rutgers game was just throw-away time so I don't put any stock in that).

His defense and decision making and turnovers are improving.
He needs to continue to get the minutes he gets. He looks slow at times but outside of Edwards, he is our second best player who can make his own shot.
I have no issue with disagreement. However he has cut his turnovers down and gives us points we desperately need that our seniors haven't been able to give in a regular basis.I don't know what to say other than I disagree. Other than rebounding I can't tell you a single thing he does really well. He certainly deserves minutes but I wouldn't give him anywhere near the most on the team. If he weren't Painter's prized five-star recruit he would've become more acquainted with the bench awhile back and my guess is that would accelerate his learning curve on defense and taking care of the basketball more than letting him continue to play through the same mistakes over and over.
