This guy is smooth and fluid, check out his highlights.

Anyone know why he's so under recruited?

ok, yeh that seems strange.
He's playing PG on the #1 ranked team in Indiana

6'3 180 jumping with his head above the rim to block shots.

He's near top of state in assists, averages 10+ points per game 70% FT & 34% 3-Point
and looks explosive in the open court

I'm curious what's going on with his recruitment.
Can Purdue have him?

Originally noticed him as one of the state's leaders in assists.
Purdue will need to replace Jenkins for next season thought they might be send out a late offer instead of a transfer

Got to be grades/academics or parents/family type issues that are hampering his recruiting.

Option 3 - he’s a late bloomer flying under the radar.

We were looking at his teammate KJ Windham a couple years ago but that has not picked up steam.

If we sign SS then that may hurt us with the 2024 guards- Perry, Harris, and the new visitor from OK.

Are Perry, Harris and the OK vistor point guards or shooting guards?

Sheridan Sharp is a pure PG and has a great feel for the game, check out all his assists in his highlights, many against other top Indiana teams.

He's got a combination of fluidity and explosiveness that you don't see often and good passing awareness to go along with it.

Would definitely be nice to have him back up Smith

He maybe a nice transfer down the line, shooting 70/34 from the charity strip and 3 point line just doesn’t cut it. Your already recruiting better players in 2024-2026 so why take a risk on a project who doesn’t really fit what you do. You save that scholarship for the up coming classes! Hope the kid finds a college home and excels!

That's a good point.
For comparison Smith and Loyer were both 80%+ FT and 40%+ 3 point shooters in high school.

Could be he's more suited to an uptempo fast break oriented team like Arizona or Alabama.
Still surprising he could only land Nichols State

If Edey doesn't return next year, Painter will have to change the offense since he won't have a low post dominant player. I think Berg will play both inside out, like Furst does, so it might open the offense for more slashers and faster temp. I think Smith would actually due well in a faster paced offense.

Travis Perry is basically a taller Braden Smith as far as feel for the game/shooting/etc. Gicarri Harris is probably more of a combo guard but also is a very good shooter.

you can see a nice passer and finisher. Looks like Carsen finishing.

70/34 cuts it if you are an exceptional athlete or defender, and/or you have true pg skills. He appears to have both. Surround a pg with enough shooters and he doesn't have to shoot much.

If he is playing high school ball, then it cant be grades. You must maintain at least a "C" average, right?

C Average in high school might make it difficult to maintain grades in college. Harder courses plus practice work load.

It still amazes me that any athlete at the P5 level ever becomes academically ineligible. Even if you could care less about school or actually learning, take the easiest possible schedule, etc. there are so many resources committed to making athletes staying eligible that it might actually require more effort to become ineligible.
It's even more astounding for someone like Milton Wright, who has NFL potential, to blow that much $ because you were willing to put in the minimal requirements..astounding.

Wrights coaches stated that he worked very hard on his grades but just couldn't make it. It happens.

yeah, the truth, is we don't know a kid's background and what sort of academic habits they were/weren't taught and/or learned to truly value

on the surface, it definitely seems astounding, but we just never truly know the full story

You can lose eligibility in a single week during finals, sometimes as little as three days

This kid sounds great. But it also sounds like we are recruiting even better players. We only have so many scholarships we can give. And it appears that we are finally becoming the first choice for our targets rather than coming in second like the past. Maybe a preferred walk-on offer.

Grades and/or character have never been an issue. Unbelievable kid and a winner. The portal has hurt a lot of HS kids and this is the case. Can definitely play at any level!

After the loss to #16 Fairleigh Dickinson, I firmly believe this is the type of player Purdue needs. If he was on the team maybe Purdue wins that game. We were decimated by turnovers and bad ball handling.
