I don't believe that Basisil played one second last night. I was thinking that they could have tried him on Jok for a couple of minutes. Not saying for sure that he would have been the answer but may have been worth a try. If nothing else, he had 5 fouls to give and could have gotten physical with him to see if that slowed him down at all. At this point I would have to agree with some of the posters on here that it appears he may be gone after this year. I would blame Basisil. He should go somewhere he can get some minutes. I never really thought that he was Big 10 material in the first place but he has had some good games and I wish him the best, whatever he does. Maybe Queen has a spot for him in Trailerton. He told someone the other day that Basisil reminds him of Cody Zeller.

I'm glad to make you laugh but I was simply replying to this douche bag that wants to mess with me. I was definitely attempting to throw some humor/fun into my post but overall I think it was fairly well stated and applies to our current situation.
I have to agree with some of what the OP says here.
Why not try Basil on Jok. He was killing us. Basil would of course have to accept the role of staying in Joks face.
Dakota, Cline and Ce couldn't stop him. At least give Basil a chance. I remember Gene putting Dove on the opponents best player to just shut him down. Dove couldn't score a lick out side of 5 feet from the basket but he didn't need to. He was athletic enough to deny the ball.
Dove's team could score and didn't need him to. Same with this team. And Basil is much better on O than Dove.
I think Basil has a lot of talent, just plays a little out of control sometimes. If he plays within his capabilities, he is as good as anyone on the team.
You have to give Dakota credit for busting his tail trying to guard Jok. He was able to beat Jok several times to his spot by anticipating his moves and contested his shot well on several occasions. He just didn't have the quickness to keep up with him consistently. I felt CE actually kept up and guarded Jok well when he was on him briefly. Unfortunately, I think a few ill advised shots earned him bench time at the end of the game
If you say Basil's D against Nigel Hayes last week, you'd know having him defend Jok would not have ended well. I'm not sure what his deal is but he looks like he is flatfooted on D like Vince was early in the year.
Let's just be honest, Basil has gone backwards. Takes a RS year and comes back less athletic than before. His defense against Hayes the other night was terrible. Less quickness, less explosive. I and others were critical of his weight gain this summer. We were loudly told we didn't know what we were talking about and it became common for those posters to put in snarky remarks about it for weeks afterwards.
Where are those snarky remarks now? He is obviously heavier than he should be and has lost the one thing that he needs to help this team, athleticism. He's not getting any PT because he doesn't have anything to offer that is going to help. If CMP thought for a second he could guard Jok or add a spark he would put him in. When he has played this year it is clear he isn't the same player as he was before the RS. Very disappointing but true.

Yeah I think so, my opinion of when he has played. He makes turnovers playing out of control, but played ok first part of season, then something happened and no playing time. Not saying he is all big ten, but I thought he was a good player.
I never thought that he was big 10 material. That being said, I can see him playing in Queentown next season. Not sure why but I just get that feeling...
Hayes and Jok are tow different players if you guys haven't noticed. I really hope Basil goes to IPFW next year and they play Purdue and upset us. Purdue is suppose to be a defensive culture and two of their best non centers at defense would have left and went to IPFW because of lack of PT. Painter needs to change the culture if he doesn't reward the guys that buy into the defensive culture
Huh? I don't get what you are saying unless it is a vague reference to Bryson. I think we covered that situation already. ...and no, Bryson was not going to add to this team in a manner that optimized all the players.
I don't think anybody knows what Smotherman is or can bring consistently if anything. I still would like to see him garner some minutes only because of lack of depth hurts interior defense. Now really showing how Taylor could have helped this team. So tired of watching small forwards go over Biggie for easy hoops down low. Biggie can't afford foul trouble so not challenging and just holding ground arms up, not difficult to execute against. Maybe bring n Basil and knock somebody on their ass and challenge some of these guys underneath.
