The B10 freshman this year boasted of: 2 top 20, 9 top 50, & 15 top 100 players. (247). A decent class.

3 of the B10s best seems to not be in the above top #50. But I will list the top 50 guys & the the other 3.

#8 iu M. Mgbako 11.6ppg 4R. MIN 26.2
#14 MSU X Booker 4ppg 1.7R MIN 8.6
#31 MSU J Fears. 3.5ppg. 1.9R MIN 12
#32 MD DH Smith. 7.2ppg 4.4R MIN 29.4
#33 MSU C. Carr 3.6ppg. 2R MIN 13
#39 OSU T. Chatman 0.4ppg. 0.5R MIN -
#44 R G. Griffiths 5.2ppg 2.1R MIN 16.7
#49 OSU D. Royal 4.1ppg. 2R MIN 10
#50 OSU S. Middleton 4ppg 1.4R MIN 15.2
#NR Wisc J. Blackwell 7.9ppg 3 R MIN 17.7
#182 Iowa Owen Freeman 10.7ppg 6.5R MIN 22.4
#84 Cam Christie 11.9ppg 3.6R MIN 29.4

So even though a decent class, only a handful have been really impactful. It's tough to be a frosh in the B10, and so many older transfers make life tougher still.

So I am on record thinking the Purdue frosh coming in will have @ least two starters @ years start.

Does the above list show I and others are likely wrong, or does the opportunity for minutes @ Purdue means Purdue will have a 2-3 impact frosh?

I believe showing the minutes played would be a meaningful stat to see how many of the players started for their teams.

Interesting list. What strikes me is that the majority of top recruits are on underperforming teams, based on talent as decided by the scouting services. With the opportunities Purdue's freshman will have, they all may have impact on different nights, depending on matchups.

Surprised not to see Cam Christie on this list. He's a stud and battling Freeman for B1GFOY.

Can’t believe Cam Christie of MN is not on the list. Out of curiosity one day I looked him up on Rivals to see how many stars he had and I couldn’t even find him.

Right with you there boilerzz. 🚂

Added minutes for you....
Thanks! Looks like you have 3 starters and 5 major contributors! Looking at their prospect ratings, that seems like this year’s BIG 10 freshmen kind of underperformed.

Looking forward to next year, I also look back to last year. Both Loyer and Smith were impressive as Freshmen. I fully expect Purdue will have 1-2 freshmen next year that will put up similar or better numbers!

Interesting thoughts....one other question/clarification - Griffiths is Rutgers, no?

Christie, Freeman, Mgbako, and Blackwell have impressed me the most. Can see the potential in most of the others that I have seen - Royal and Booker, particularly.

Regardless, really like what Painter is trying to construct from a roster/skills/fit perspective.....Purdue will be different and still transitioning, IMO. You never know for sure though....

Yes Gavin Griffiths is on Rutgers

Hmmmmmm that player at Illinois whose mom is interesting failed to make the list.

I wish him well, but I’ve seen that story too many times before

Cam Christie is one of my favs. Just thought him as a sophomore for some reason, likely because he is so darn good. Prob Mgbako or Freeman as freshman of the year though. But of the group as transfers, IF he was available, I would want Christie.

This. None are on the top 4 teams.

think Freeman gets it, hasn't he been named FR player of the week 9 or 10 times?
