  • ...just found.......41K ! Nice to see, better than I thought. 55k plus for next weeks game! If we can pull the upset, 50k plus for the BG game. Were going to have to play almost to perfection to win the next two. 3-1 sounds so much better than 2-2.

I'm curious as to how many of those were opposing fans.

2014 Opener: 37,000
2013 Opener: 50,000 (also vs. Indiana State and Band Day)

From being in person I was pretty shocked at how many people were there. The student section was packed, which is great to see. (Who knew making tickets more affordable would result in more people buying them and coming to games?!) Now, there were about 1,500 extra bodies in the stand because of band day, but despite that Ross-Ade looked pretty full considering the opponent and how bad the Boilers have been the last few years. I would guess there weren't more than 1,000 wearing blue. It was a good showing by the Purdue faithful yesterday. It would be nice to see above 50K vs. VT.

Students are your most fickle. Home opener attendance is almost always good with them - all the freshmen going to their first football game. The student section is typically fine as long as the weather remains nice and you aren't crapping the bed.

And while the price tag certainly doesn't hurt, the spike in tickets bought has more to do with basketball than anything. You have to buy the combo including football tickets in order to get basketball tickets.

Dittos. Has to make the team better. Much different than the hostile environment last week. Let's hope we keep playing well and they keep coming back.

I was very impressed by the attendance yesterday. My prediction driving to the game is it would be around 30,000 - 35,000. The field also looked great! Great job to the grass crew.

How sad is it people are blown away from having 40,000 at a football game? We had a very similar attendance at last year's home opener too you know...

Overheard something funny from the ISU fan sitting a few rows behind me. You all know the students scream "IU sucks!" after every kick off. After hearing it the second time, the ISU guy said to his buddy, "They don't even know we're not part of IU?"

When did that start? I'm fine with once per game after Hailfire, but every kickoff? Yikes.
