AMNU - that's the perception Mitch Daniels and our Trustees leave me with. Again, I think Mitch is a fiscal genius when it comes to politics and reforming education systems - and I laud the flat tuition idea and his fundraising efforts around technology school development.
Having said that, I thought our nation was founded on the economic principle of capitalism where those who work the smartest and invest the most typically see the highest returns on investment. It seems that we think "Moneyball" is our only option, but in reality that never got Oakland a championship nor a run of sustained excellence. How much revenue is being left on the table because we don't seem to have the desire to go 10 bricks higher in football and men's hoops? If I'm wrong, please show me evidence to the contrary.
This is why I gave up on the JPC and I'm sure countless others did too. Sorry, just not interested in taking my hard earned dollars to invest in "The Program" when our leaders don't seem to have the same competitive fire that I thought I developed in part due to my degree and experience at Krannert.
The real world I live in is best summed up by my boss on our 7am conference call today..."gentlemen we've had good results last year and we've hit some bumps in the road lately but we are NOT MEDIOCRE and you can take any thoughts you had like that with you somewhere else if you're not ready to have the best damn year of your career! We are making the investments (rattled off 3 big ones) in this company and YOU...I'm going to demand more from you and you will dig deeper or move on. I promise you that if we work smarter that one year from now we will all be celebrating results that the naysayers said we would not attain. Are you in or out?"
