C. Edwards will be on the team. Yes, he will be a freshman but I think he will be able to contribute especially as the season goes on. Our lack of a good pg this season really hurt. yesterday they were daring Thompson and Hill to shoot the ball. Neither can. Edwards is known to be a scoring guard so it should help.

Correction: PJ can shoot the ball. He isn't very good at getting to the basket though, and his shooting was off yesterday like the rest of the team.

I would say P.J. is average. He is not a go to guy who you get the ball too at the end of games. I am hoping Edwards can be this guy. At least create his own shot.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Carsen isn't considered a 'get to the basket' PG. He is a good shooter.

And I am okay with that. Vince can get to the rim so we have that coming back and if CE can shoot, then that SHOULD free up the bigs down low.

It makes it hard for our front line to score when the opposing team packs the middle and doesn't even go out to guard our PG because they know they aren't a real threat from beyond the arc.

yes, this really hurt us in the game against Little Rock. They were daring our pg to shoot the ball. Hopefully Edwards can make somewhat of a difference.

Yep. I would of liked to see Hill take a shot during that game. We weren't hitting squat anyway, so at least it keeps the defense honest.

Oh well moot point now.

When Hill and Davis are on the floor at the same time teams could basically leave both of them alone and not worry about them making shots. That makes it very hard for the bigs to get anything going. Love Davis but his offense was nowhere to be found all year except for the MSU game.

I think Edwards gets to the basket just fine in high school. If you watch highlights from his games, it seems like about half of his scores are either drives to the basket, or cuts to the basket where someone passes him the ball. But it is still to be determined (especially with his height) whether this will correlate to being able to drive in college. I am hoping he has LewJack quickness, but again, it's hard to tell watching him play in high school.

The one thing that I'm happy with is his ridiculous shot range. That definitely correlates to college, and will keep defenses honest.

Just imagine him and Dakota starting at the 1 and 2. That's two players who are a threat from deep, two players with the ability to make good entry passes, 2 players (well, maybe one and a half) who can drive and create their shots. Add Vince at the 3 if we're going big, and our entire front court actually has the ability to be a triple threat.

wait till you see him play, he's got an entire off-season to work with Painter the way Painter wants him to mold into a Purdue type PG and a Purdue type shooter, and a Purdue type defender. It will be a complete transformation. This kid could be Tyler Ulis

I agree with you that he will be on the team and as a freshman. He will be subject to the same problems all freshmen have joining their new NCAA team. Swannigan is very good example of that. But here is where I have a different view. C.E. began the year as a distributing guard among a team of great players. Thus they became #1 in the country. Pardon me that I don't know their current ranking, but at one time this season, they were on top. And at about that time is when C.E. began putting in points. He raised his ranking from a 3 star to a 4 star. It appears to me that we are getting the complete offensive package for the PG position.

But there is more in my opinion. We need someone that can throttle the other teams guards to force them out of their offense and then keep them from penetration around the goal to distribute or score. Our defense was built this season to help cover the ball handler and that put our team in trouble. We didn't defend the 3 point line this season as well as was done in prior years, but it goes back longer than that.

Our team had Kansas in the hole with under 5 minutes to play. They were struggling to run their offense and would take a wild 3 now and then and we would get the rebound. Then, one of those went in and we didn't get any more defensive rebounds. They took control of the pace of the game and their defense won out in the end. Same thing happened against North Carolina in the Great Alaska Shootout. So I would like to see our guys guard a little higher out on the floor and not let fatigue put them in position to loose containment of their man.

One thing that hurts too is the lack of play making ability by our shooting guards. I like Mathias and Cline but the only time they score is by coming off a screen to get open. This is fine but like we saw in the little Rock game we need guards that can create their own shots.

I'm OK w/ DM and RC 's abilities, we need some zone breakers, Vince needs to get stronger, he had trouble finishing a basket after a nice drive, DM needs to get stronger too. Some of our guys look soft, now on the other hand, Haas, Cline, and Taylor look like they work out. I personally wish Taylor could have gotten some more minutes this year, even if it would have been 3 min. a half, just to get a feel for the game time and would benefit him and the team next year.

Really hard to predict minutes for next year because I'm hoping an offseason transformation takes care of that problem. Watching this PG duel between Wichita St and Miami makes you realize the importance of have a floor leader who can make your roster better. Im not convinced PJ or Carsen have proven they can be that for our team next year

I am hoping this kid is the difference maker this team needs....college is a guard's game and we have some nice contributors there, but no difference makers yet. Need a couple of Etwaun Moore scoring types out there. Hope he can bring the goods

Don't get me wrong. I really like the bigs on our team but when the opposing team doubles and takes Hammons away then the other guys got to step up and make something happen. The end of the Little Rock game killed me. We had no offense what so ever. We need a player that can create something and get some points. That is what I am seeing in this tournament.

Anybody have any updates on Basil? healthy? improving certain parts of his game?

Next year, really everyone outside haas could be a viable three point shooter. Imagine Pj, mathias, stephens vince and swanigan. Everoyone is a threat. I assume basil added a three to his game, knowing swanigans work ethic, he improves his percent to above 35% or higher. Even Jacquil shows promise on an outside shot.

Who knows. We also thought we were getting a good PG with both Ronnie and Bryson.
