Best move for him probably. He could be really special for Purdue and himself in year 4 & if he stays here for year 5.

Good for him to realize that he can get better and better practicing this year. I hope he stays for his junior and senior years at Purdue. If he becomes a real threat from 3, he is going to be really good for us. I think he is primed to takes the reigns from Ray on the defensive side next year guarding the other teams best players.

Sure would seem tough to give up a roster spot with the potential this team will have this year. No guarantees going forward in the future either.

After he transferred from Heritage to Lawrence he really struggled as a junior but as a senior he played really well. Hopefully a year away would do that for him.

I really like Basil. Seems like a really good young man and talented player.

My concern is that he feels caught up in a numbers game - and is concerned re his playing time - not only this year but also his senior year. From his perspective, it makes sense to redshirt this year and play his senior year at Purdue. Then, with degree in hand, he can weigh his options of playing year 5 at Purdue or transferring to another school if he is still concerned re playing time.

I have to believe that is driving his decision. And must say I cant blame him if that is the case. And best of all, it shows he is truly a BOILER since he wants to get his degree regardless of playing time prior to that.

Anybody else think this may be the case?

He would be a centerpiece on our squad after this year. If Biggie and Vince declare--he's the next up as the man.
