Arizona writers go 0-fer in predictions

Or that Boan genius who acknowledged knowing "absolutely nothing about Purdue," but was somehow sure that no Purdue player can stop Tate!

Nothing like getting spanked by a “mediocre team” with “zero offense” and a slow, plodding defense that will never stop their qb.
Yeah, hang 38 pts on them and hold their “Heisman candidate” to a whopping 58 yds rushing.
These AZ writers are/were clueless.

That site is akin to hammer and rails.

That’s why I don’t like those sites. When they write something stupid, people start making assumptions about the entire fan base.

At least the pieces I’ve read, the creators are neither journalists nor all that knowledgeable at sports.

AZ fans are some of the worst fans I've ever been around.

Yep. I made the trip out there as an undergrad for the game in 2005. Had a great time and the coeds were smokeshows... the ‘90 year old guys and desperate housewives’ themed party we ended up at is something none of us who went out there will forget get.

The student body was a bunch of misfits with very few Arizona ties. Everyone said they were from the “OC” or some other famous part of California — too dumb (and obnoxious) to get into any California school.

Not like we cared, but we were harassed nonstop on game day. Some surfer dude with 12” locks wanted to fight me after the game because I wore my Orton jersey into one of their dining halls.

The U of A student body reminded me a lot of what IU has become. Transplants from all over the country that have no ties to the university so they try to create this fake attachment to athletics and really overplay the whole thing. Felt phony.

Any way of getting Paulus email? I would love to send him an email about Arizona 400rushing yards..

Take it with a grain of salt! Earlier this year a similar site was looking for people to write columns for his site about Purdue! I volunteered! And he read some of my posts and praised me and thought I'd make a great columnist for his site about Purdue sports teams!

Those columnists could easily be somebody just like me who likes to post a lot with very little real knowledge!

Also think about it! The posts made were intended for Arizona readers , not a national audience or Purdue fans! If their posts were not pro Arizona, they'd be hated by their readers and fired. Much like Myself and Boilermaker1973! Think about it, if you were in their shoes, would you say positive things about your opponent? I sure don't see many people here saying anything positive about our opponents! Did we say anything positive about Rutgers or Nebraska? Or did we just blame ourselves and our mistakes for losing?

People like to read positive posts about their team! We're the Arizona writers any different than the Purdue writers? That's kind of like saying the Indy Star hasn't changed their focus in the last 30 years . They. Are pro IU and always be, much like the SouthBend paper! Their slant is geared toward their readership ! They try their best to build up spirit in their team! The St Louis Ost Dispatch has an Article about the Cardinals almost every day! It gets annoying if you're not a Cardinals fan! But if you are, you love it!

Honest question... why do you have this perception? In 5 minutes I found Purdue’s in state students make up 53% of the student body while IU has 55% Indiana residents.

Isn’t students from all over the world something for which Purdue has always strived?

International students are a different topic. I’m referring to the huge northeast influence that has taken over IU. I don’t have the numbers to back it up, but I’d assume most of Purdue’s non international students come from the Midwest.

I think your keyboard is malfunctioning. It's making a "!" at every "."

I will agree with you on this, as I know many people on this board would hate if I was a columnist on a quasi official Purdue sports web site. but the facts remain, there was a guy who had established about 50 similar college web sites and came to this board looking for people to write columns about Purdue sports for his website. And I informed him I was interested. he read a couple of my posts, and liked them. he actually sent me a couple of personal emails. I could have easily taken him up on his offer. but the fact is, we both know how little I really know.

and the fact is, there are many sites that look they're official and the people know stuff, but they are basically people like me

and think about it people/fans like rah , rah web sites. they don't like the authors cutting down their teams. I was suspended for 6 months for cutting down hazell and his recruits on a different site. And in those posts, I was very accurate and correct, but nobody on the board wanted to believe it or be reminded.

I'm quite sure the Arizona fans probably love that guy. and I'm also quite sure IU fans think we're a bunch of homers too.

I'll leave you with one thought. I've never flipped burgers at a McDonalds. That doesn't mean I can't. I just don't want to. there are many things I don't do. that doesn't mean I don't have the intelligence to do them.

and I'll go one step further - there are many people here who are smarter and more knowledgeable than people who coach and scout and ref and write newspaper sports articles. Just because they have the job, doesn't mean they are better than you, or that you couldn't do a better job. A lot of job hires are not based on intelligence or actual skills, they are based on money, contacts, and the person volunteering to actually do the job. the coverage of Purdue sports writers at the Indy Star pales in comparison to this site. and as for agreeing with me, as I look at the past 6 presidential elections, for each vote or opinion you cast, there will be close to 50% of other people who will agree with you and also disagree with you. and typically as in all things, it's those who disagree that are more vocal. When people agree, they are typically silent. When was the last time you went to the customer service desk after Christmas to tell them you actually liked their product you bought ?

I plan to make some changes for 2018. and unbeknown to some, I don't always seek the last word. and sometimes I don't even open a thread. I know - GSAP and OMG ! I may even use fewer words. to express my thoughts. I might limit myself to 768 words per post. :>)
