Arizona offered 2018 recruit $150K

SMH, sad state of affairs. Sean was one of the coaches I liked and figured was one of the good guys.

According to the same news site, there could be as many as 3 recruits that took or were promised money at Az. Gotta think the FIB is interviewing those kids. Cheating looks to be rampant in the PAC 10

Heard Pat Forde say this AM that he thinks as many as 100 schools could be implicated before it's over.

Yikes. If they loose three players they are going to be lucky to make the NIT. Especially if the Miller is fired, which he absolutely should be.

Here's some quotes from the Criminal Complaint"

A criminal complaint quoted (LaMont) Evans bragging about his ability to steer the young athletes toward prospective agents and advisers, promising them that “every guy I recruit and get is my personal kid” and that he had the capability to “bury” any other athlete advisers who tried to recruit his players to sign with them.

According to the papers, Evans expected $2,000 a month for his services, though he might ask for an extra $5,000 to $7,000 “at the end of the day for delivering” a specific athlete.

In explaining his decision to leave South Carolina for Oklahoma State in the documents released, Evans said it was a “better job” because it was “(b)etter players, more, more, more business.”

Which is why I predict when all is said and done, very little punishment is going to stick to the schools. The NCAA is going to have a hard time figuring out where to draw the lines and they aren't going to put post season bans or scholarship bans on 100 programs. Law breakers will be punished. Schools will shed some bad actors. The NCAA will make some systemic changes, which may or may not prevent this from happening again, and the beat will go on.

They have been "investigating" UNC for academic cheating for years and nothing has come of it. How long would it take to hand out 100 schools worth of punishment.

Not sure about that. We are the conference of paterno, sandusky, tressel, Kelvin sampson, clem haskins, steve fisher, sweet Lou henson, etc.
good point, but Penn State was a different issue. Those other coaches were not in the conference--- ;)

It'll be interesting to see how this shakes out. The book on B1G basketball recently has been it's a conference of really good coaches that lags behind when it comes to landing the elite talent. It hasn't been unusual for individual schools to pull in as many or more 5* recruits than the entire B1G conference in recent years. The B1G has been getting lapped by the ACC, SEC, and PAC12 when it comes to the number first round NBA draft picks. Whether it's because the B1G is cleaner than other conferences or just not as good at cheating remains to be seen.

yeah, no cheating while Archie was there. Always got to protect the little brother. Seriously, I have no idea whether Archie had any involvement there and was just having fun. However, I was stumped when that one athlete that Purdue wanted a year or so ago declared for Dayton

He didn't come to Purdue most likely because Biggie opted to return for his sophomore season. Also it wasn't like Kostas was that highly ranked to begin with. He wasn't a 5 star by any means and I'm not even sure he was eligible to play his first year at Dayton anyways.

As mentioned above this entire narrative that big ten schools have a hard time landing elite recruits is fully supported by the fact that none of our schools have been implicated in this scandal. Apparently it's not about warm weather or night life, its about the $$$$.

And the cheating will resume.

I wouldn't celebrate being in the clear yet. It is just getting started and Vonlay, Bryant, and Parea have some question marks about them. We shall see once being start to roll and everything comes out.

Yuck! Is it any wonder Painter is rarely on the list of coaches recruiting these kids? Maybe the recruiting experts on the board who think they know what's going on will take a step back. In fact, they seem to be oddly silent.

Giannis' little brother wasn't that great of a player, nor had he played organized basketball very long. the fatal flaw is people see Gianis and his accomplishments, and they believe his little brother can follow the same path. Very rarely does a little brother come close to achieving what the older brother did. Just ask Hank Aaron's little brother. Just ask MJ's children.

Do you think people looked at him and "his" accomplishments? I saw a lengthy athlete with high potential...I don't even know what his accomplishments were
