About the upcoming season and to pay extra attention to the big people getting beat up with and without the ball?

People are going to get hurt, followed by a civil suit.

Sue you! Sue everyone!
I mean to be fair that is one of the best ways to get bad actors to change the way they do things. I thought about that after the NW game. What if Edey call the cops, and showed his arms to them with the game tape as evidence? I think according to the letter of the law it would most certainly be considered assault?

As a contact sport, I doubt they do anything more than they would for someone who gets hurt during a boxing match (they’d let it go). It’s pretty rare that police get involved for on field/court incidents.

But now that I’m thinking about it, is that right? I’m not talking about hack a Shaq. But when there are actual sucker punches, tripping like the kid from IU used to do, etc. on court - maybe to some extent a malicious attempt to throw a tall player down - if you ever saw stuff like that happen in a public space like a mall food court or a campus bar, there’s no question authorities will get involved if they see or hear of it. It is kind of fascinating people watch authorities turning a blind eye to anything like that when it happens in the heat of a game. Maybe the world would be a better place if people saw athletes getting charged for the truly malicious incidents instead of being excused as if it doesn’t matter in some heat-of-the-game double standard.

So much money to be made off bets, I often wonder if unscrupulous players or especially refs are in for the big pay under the table mode? I see so much unfair and one sided refing....this comes to my mind a bunch. Just me probably, as surely we know our great B10 refs are above this.......???

Only if it's something outside the bounds of the sport and results in serious injury, such as Marty McSorley vs Donald Brashear.
