Jackson would be a great hire too. Good recruiter. Knows Purdue. Cb’s were pretty good while he was here.
The CBs were pretty good this year. When he was here? They ranged from fine to lower levels of fine
When you compare them to when the next coach was here, forget his but came from Auburn, he was an outstanding coach. When comparing them to Adams they were about the same. Adams had the benefit of a better D line though. The D line can make the cb’s look like duds or all stars.
Jamari brown and dedrick Mackey made any duo we’ve had in a long time look “eh” …
I think when it comes to Jackson there are just some people who like them some Jackson … that’s fine … but the corners were fine to Lower level fine

Bourbon certainly doesn't help, but let's be honest. Engineer typing pretty much guarantees poor spelling.
I end up editing far more post than I care to admit because of it myself.

We definitely picked up some very nice talent in the portal, Thompson certainly being one of those. For me though, its Brown. He started I think every game at an absolute position of need and played well all season.
I would put Thompson, Witt and Finerran in front of him.
i would say he’s got a long road in front of him to stay a starter next year assuming Trice comes back 100%
He will likely take over for Mackey unless one of the portal guys beats him out.
If you made me pick, I would say Taylor would beat him out.
I want to see if Kane stays at Corner or Safety. He wasn’t great in the bowl game (No DB was) but he held his own playing every snap

The job Okonye did coming in new as a senior and contributing like he did to that 2017 defense was criminally underrated. My personal favorite portal pickup of the Brohm era.
I think Broc is the better player but I’d rather have Brown if I had to pick just one, due to our CB numbers this season. But I could see him getting beaten out by Taylor in the spring.
He performed .. most of the time in my life, we lose a Corey trice and we are done. Brown stepped in admirably…
I never thought much of Jackson. At best there was deniability that he wasn’t the reason our pass defense was “eh”

That should be the foremost credential for whoever gets hired. Also, any defensive coach who has ever employed the three-man-rush aka "prevent defense" should not be hired under any circumstances. It is well named in that it prevents you from winning.
speaking of Coach Payton, on the news today I saw that they made a movie about him but it has to do w/ the bounty gate season he didn't coach. It stars Kevin James as Coach so I guess it may be a comedy
The casting of Kevin James as Payton is comedic in itself...the movie was somewhat amusing...an interesting story.
