Why wouldn't every non blue blood just kick back and watch who Painter offers and do the same. He absolutely has done it again with this 3 star are you kidding me? Kid hit 7 three points in a game before Christmas. I see a more athletic Fletcher Loyer. When the season started, I thought this team sucks and they did. Fast forward to now and IMO they have a legit chance to win another state championship. West is a lethal weapon if he doesn't dice you up with his passing he kills you with deep three's. He is a great defender with his savvy and length. Ranked 193 by 247 if there are 50 players better than him in 2025 class I haven't seen them. Let alone 192 he will make it easy on the announcer to just keep repeating how Painter finds kids who fit. I know Painter is the best evaluator in all of college basketball but come on how can these ranking sites have missed so badly on him? As 4- and 5-star players with Purdue offers made bad choices. I held fast to the one I really wanted and thankfully we landed him. While I wanted a stretch 4 also mainly the kid from Kentucky EJ Walker, I coveted West and if we didn't land him, I would have been crushed. He fits like a glove at Purdue. Trust me in the near future West will be held in the same regard as Fletcher at least. They list him at 6'3 which seems about right it's just he plays so much bigger. He hits threes like most players make layup's IMO he doesn't take enough of them. His team doesn't report stats, but he has to be well over 50% from three. Crowded you bet Harris and Cox are legit Imo Benter is a star in waiting add West with Smith and Loyer as mentors. The program Painter has built is in good hands for years to come. I reported on his barking at the ref's and questioned his coach for not stopping it I haven't seen it in a month of games problem solved? I see him as a three because he can guard the biggest guards and rebounds well above his size he has all the PG skills as well. The biggest flaw for me was the barking. We will be lucky if he stays 4 years yes, I think he will be that good. To be a Purdue recruit you have to want the ball when the game is on the line if you don't believe in you neither does Painter this kid believes. The reason I wanted West over Jalen Harrelson was his team play. Give me a player who values winning over personal stats every time. Imo it's why Illinois and Indiana are struggling this year they have all the talent anyone should ever want. I don't think West is better than Harrelson I do think he fits better. Fun fact on January 29th he scored 29. I have been following him for about 3 years as Purdue recruited him that long. I knew then we wanted him and why. Sorry if this is a jumbled mess I'm struggling today with my thoughts.

Thanks for the write up and no worries on the jumbled mess…you can always edit and use that return button to get new paragraphs! 😂

Always enjoy the content and hope he turns out to be what we hope! He’s going to be able to learn A LOT from the Purdue backcourt.

Good stuff, thank you. It's clear that recruiting sites value tangibles above all else. They go nuts for a kid like Booker at MSU who is 6'10", athletic, and can shoot, and don't know how to project how a kid with average size and athleticism will translate to high major basketball.

It's not surprising to me that they undervalue guys like Braden and Fletch. I still don't understand how they missed on JI.

It’s almost as if they are rating based on pro potential rather college player. That and I think it’s pretty well known that ratings can be affected by sponsors and or other funding sources.
