I've harped on the poor decisions on offense, the board play the obvious interior weakness to stop power players inside...but I just caught this stat...and although it is an average...the only reasoned answer (not sure I agree with this though) I can come up with is that Matt was fearful of playing in the half court more adn strying to steal some points before the D gets set. i don't agree with that and think Purdue never put Tennessee in some difficult decisions. If you are NOT the athletic team...do you want a foot race?m If you want a cerebral game of skill more than athletic power...do you want to use the clock to your advantage. With all the obvious things we all saw....Purdue's AVG TIME OF POSSESSION WAS 13 SECONDS...13 SECONDS!!!!! Does THAT scream anything? Tennessee, the athletic team took almost TWICE AS MUCH TIME PER POSSESSION in putting Purdue on D for their favorite match-up at 20 seconds. Now granted some of that was steals and such...but over the course of a game...Tennessee used a lot more time per possession.
Now it is a data point...and the data may be hidden deeper than quickly seen...but is there ANY reason Purdue should have a 13 second average time of possession. Is this due to Haas being so quick to get up and down the floor?![Wink ;) ;)](data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7)
